Tiki Dog North Shore Luau Wild Salmon

North Shore Luau Wild Salmon is a high quality canned wet food made by Tiki Dog. It has been certified by the USDA as being suitable for human consumption, which means it’s produced from choice ingredients. After all, why should you feed your dog something that wouldn’t be safe for you to eat? It’s suitable for dogs of all sizes and belonging to all life stages, according to AAFCO nutrient profiles. It’s also made from sustainable ingredients, so it’s ideal if you try to be eco-friendly. Its added vitamins and minerals will help keep your dog healthy, but the problem is that they aren’t chelated, so they are more difficult for your dog to absorb into his body. It can be fed on its own, as a complete food, but it’s also possible to mix it with a dry food for additional moisture.

Tiki North Shore Luau Wild Salmon Ingredient Analysis

1. Salmon

2. Brown rice

3. Sweet potato

4. Egg

5. Salmon broth

Salmon is an oily fish which contains plenty of healthy fats along with omega 3 fatty acids. It also has a high protein content.

Brown rice is a wholegrain, meaning that it has high nutritional value for your dog. This complex carbohydrate is easy to digest when cooked. The only issue with rice is that it can potentially contain arsenic and the FDA hasn’t yet set guidelines as to how much is safe to eat. While there’s no reason to avoid feeding your dog rice altogether, it may be wise to limit the amount he eats.

Sweet potato is a complex carbohydrate which is a great grain-free alternative. It’s more nutritious than white potato, containing high levels of fiber, beta carotene and more vital nutrients.

Egg provides a high quality source of protein for your dog. They’re also very easy to digest, so are good for dogs with delicate stomachs.

Salmon broth doesn’t have any particular nutritional value, but it is useful to add extra moisture and flavor to the food, making it extra tasty for your dog.

  1. Patti says:

This dog food (and all the canned dog foods by Tiki Pet) are REALLY low in sodium…0.10%!

This is important if your dog has a heart condition, as my dog has. Finding a high quality food that’s also one he’ll readily eat that’s also low in sodium is a real challenge!
Sodium levels aren’t mandated by the AAFCO, and very few dog food manufacturers list this at their web sites (Tiki Pet does!).
