This has to be one of the worst dog foods I have ever reviewed. No. 2-9 of the ingredient list is just downright bad for dogs, or it causes allergies in most dogs. If you are feeding this you need to research these ingredients.
There are 3 types of corn in this product. The fish meal contains large amounts of Ethoxyquin, a poisonous preservative banned in human food. There a 2 types of soy in this product and just one is very hard on a dogs system. Animal digest is cooked-down broth made from unspecified parts of unspecified animals. The animals used can be obtained from any source, so there is no control over quality or contamination. Any kind of animal can be included: “4-D animals” (dead, diseased, disabled, or dying prior to slaughter), goats, pigs, horses, rats, misc. roadkill, animals euthanized at shelters, restaurant and supermarket refuse and so on. Menadione sodium bisulfite complex is a synthetic Vitamin K which harms dogs liver and there is no need for Vitamiun K.

Brewers rice is one of the lowest quality rice products in dog food.
Whole grain wheat can not be digested by dogs and causes numerous issues in dog to include allergies, skin and coat issues.
Corn gluten meal is the absolute lowest grade of corn that can be bought. Corn causes numerous issues in dogs to include allergies, skin, coat, eye and ear issues.
Poultry by-product meal is really not meat at all, but the scrapings off the floor and it includes dead and diseased poultry animals. Typically this ingredient would end up in dumpster if it wasn’t in this dog food.

FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRO PLAN SHREDDED BLEND CHICKEN & RICE FORMULA
We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow him to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily.
FEEDING FOR REPRODUCTION
Pro Plan Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice Formula provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female’s ideal condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation.
FEEDING WEANING PUPS
Start puppies on moistened Pro Plan Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice Formula as early as they begin to nibble at solid foods, generally three to four weeks of age.
FEEDING GROWING PUPS
Feed pups (to six months of age) all of the moistened Pro Plan Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice Formula they will consume at intervals throughout the day. If fed dry, Pro Plan Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice Formula may be kept before pups at all times.
MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN
Although you’ll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow seven to ten days to ease the transition from his current food. This will help prevent dietary upsets. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more of Pro Plan until you’re feeding Pro Plan exclusively.
