Precise Small and Medium Breed Puppy Formula Dog Food Review

As with all dog food recipes the first thing we are going to look at are the first five ingredients. The first five ingredients are a good indication of the quality of the dog food. When looking at the first five ingredients you want to make sure there is plenty of meat and grains are minimal.

First Five Ingredients:

Precise Small and Medium Breed Puppy Formula Dog Food First Five Ingredients:

  1. Chicken Meal
  2. Ground Brown Rice
  3. Chicken Fat
  4. Ground Oats
  5. Beet Pulp

Chicken Meal is the first ingredient and is a named meat ingredient. A dog’s diet needs to based on the fact that dogs need meat and protein that derives from meat.

Brown Rice is the second ingredient and is a decent quality grain that adds additional protein and carbohydrates to your dog’s food.

Chicken Fat is going to be the main source of fat. It’s safe to say that the ingredients before this ingredient are going to make up the majority of the dog food. This is a decent quality ingredient. You want to stay away from unidentified fat sources such as, “Animal Fat”

Ground Oats are a decent quality ingredient. Oats combined with Rice are going to make up the majority of the grains.

Beet Pulp is the fifth ingredient. It is thought by some to be a cause of excess stress on kidneys and cause allergies and ear infections.

Just be aware that Precise is still using Menadione. Menadione is a cheap and controversial Vit K supplement. Quality foods do not use this item. If Precise is using this item then it is because they are cheap and this increases the chance that the other ingredients they are using are cheap as well. There are so many great foods out there so I would shop around.
