Nutro Max Senior Dog Food Review

As with all dog food recipes the first thing we are going to look at are the first five ingredients. The first five ingredients are a good indication of the quality of the dog food. When looking at the first five ingredients you want to make sure there is plenty of meat and grains are minimal.

Nutro Max Senior Dog Food First Five Ingredients:

  1. Ground Rice
  2. Chicken Meal
  3. Wheat Flour
  4. Rice Bran
  5. Corn Gluten Meal

Rice is the first ingredient and is a decent quality grain. A dog’s diet needs to be based off of meat and consist mostly of meat and not rice.

Chicken Meal is the second ingredient and is a named meat ingredient. Meat is a good source of protein and is essential to a dog’s diet.

Wheat is thought to be the number one cause of allergies in dogs. A dog’s diet shouldn’t consist of many grains.

Rice Bran is the fourth ingredient is a grain and filler. This ingredient offers no nutritional value to the dog food.

Corn Meal is the fifth ingredient. Corn provides your dogs with no nutritional value. Dog’s digestive systems have a hard time digesting this ingredient. If you feed your dog a corn kernel, you will get a corn kernel out. Corn in excess has also been linked to many cases of dog allergies.
