Nutro Max Large Breed Puppy Dog Food Review

As with all dog food recipes the first thing we are going to look at are the first five ingredients. The first five ingredients are a good indication of the quality of the dog food. When looking at the first five ingredients you want to make sure there is plenty of meat and grains are minimal.

[tab:First Five Ingredients:]

Nutro Max Large Breed Puppy Dog Food First Five Ingredients:

  1. Beef Meal
  2. Ground Rice
  3. Corn Gluten Meal
  4. Rice Bran
  5. Ground Whole Wheat

Beef Meal is the first ingredient and is a named meat ingredient. Meat is a good source of protein and is essential to a dog’s diet.

Ground Rice is the second ingredient and is a decent quality grain. This grain hasn’t been linked to as many cases of allergies unlike some other grains.

Corn Gluten Meal is the third ingredient. Corn provides your dogs with no nutritional value. Dog’s digestive systems have a hard time digesting this ingredient. If you feed your dog a corn kernel, you will get a corn kernel out. Corn in excess has also been linked to many cases of dog allergies.

Rice Bran is a grain and also a filler. This ingredient offers no nutritional value to this dog food.

Ground Whole Wheat is the fifth ingredient. Wheat is thought to be the number one cause of allergies in dogs. A dog’s diet shouldn’t consist of many grains.
