I live in Salt Lake City and no one carries Fromms. I learned about this food from a chat forum. I find it odd that Fromms hasn’t tapped this market yet. I have a picky eater who is on Nutro Ultra at the suggestion of a friend. He barely eats it when he is finally starving. I ordered a bag of Fromms chicken ala veg online. I hope he likes it!

Fromm foods are good, but I had a bad experience with their customer service. I asked a couple of questions about their food because I have an allergy dog. However, instead of just getting answers, I got a condescending lecture about how everyone except them is wrong about allergies, and I felt very much like I was being spoken to as though I were a third grader. Not pleasant, so even though I like their foods, I have chosen to buy my pups food from a company that treats its customers with respect.

I think the only downside to ordering dog food online is that you can’t check the expiration date on the packaging. It doesn’t happen often, but I have found a bag or two that is out of date in our local pet food stores. I’m sure the same can happen from online stores, especially if they have a large inventory and it doesn’t turn over fast enough. I would just make sure you can return it (shipping costs to return?) if it is out of date. Also, unless you live in a really small town, there should be a pet supply store that carries at least a good variety of high quality foods.

I was just wondering why folks are concerned with whether brands are sold in their area, when it seems as though you can get your dog foods online for less expensive prices – and often free or low cost shipping – and then ALL the brands are available to you. Is there a downside to ordering from the online services that I don’t know about?

There is only one pet store even close to me that sells Fromm here in my area. Tony really loves their Duck and Sweet potato.

Hey Jess-I took a look at first mate,I don’t know which formula that you are looking at but fat is #3 in some of the formulas and performance formula has the most protein at 32%.Go! and Now! are good,all 3 foods are Canadian.

OK, I just received an e-mail from Fromm and you are correct. Fromm has their own plant, but out-source their canned to food to someone in South Dakota. I really like Fromm s 4 star but it is so limited in my area. Michelle I am also looking at 1st Mate to replace California Natural, seems a little light on meat but looks like what I want “simple”. I add meat to his diet so it’s not a big a deal to me. It’s to bad Merrick doesn’t work for Tony. Seems I am seeing more GO & NOW around my area. Most of the pet stores here have begun dropping Natura products and the selves space’s is getting some new products.
