Fromm Chicken À La Veg Dog Food Review
As with all dog food recipes the first thing we are going to look at are the first five ingredients. The first five ingredients are a good indication of the quality of the dog food. When looking at the first five ingredients you want to make sure there is plenty of meat and grains are minimal.
Fromm Chicken À La Veg Dog Food First Five Ingredients:
- Chicken
- Chicken Meal
- Pearled Barley
- Oatmeal
- Sweet Potatoes
Chicken is the first ingredient in this recipe. This ingredient is inclusive of its water content. Meaning that once the water is removed and this ingredients becomes a dried ingredient it will weigh significantly less, thus making it fall further in the ingredients list.
Chicken Meal is the second ingredient and is a named meat ingredient. Dogs need a diet that is based around meat and protein that comes from meat. This ingredients adds additional meat and protein.
Pearled Barley is the third ingredient. Barley is a decent quality grain. If there are grains we would prefer to see this grain over others.
Oatmeal is the fourth ingredient and is a decent quality ingredient. If your dog has allergies to Oatmeal Gluten one should avoid this ingredient.
Potatoes are the Fifth ingredient and is a decent sources of addition carbohydrates.

I am not to sure about this food because I dislike Menhaden Fish so much. But this is on their website and when I contacted them they were very fast in responding and were very forceful in them not using suppliers who preserve with ethoxyquin. I am not to hip on the use of Dried Tomato Pomace but it does seem like a pretty good dog food.
Does your food contain ethoxyquin?
No, Fromm Family Foods recipes do not contain ethoxyquin. All of our ingredients and final products are free from artificial and industrial preservatives. Additionally we pay more for our fish, whitefish, and salmon to not be treated or preserved with ethoxyquin
My dogs have been very picky eaters since day one. After trying many different types of dry dog food, Fromm’s Chicken A La Veg was the only one that they really liked. Not many stores near me carry it, so I make a special trip to get it for them. They have been very healthy and stay at a nice weight. They are no gassy and poop only 1x per day. I would highly recommend this food.
We have a german short haired pointer. She is extremely healthy now that we took her off Ekanuba and placed her on the Fromms Chicken and Veg. She used to have anal gland leakage, it is gone. She used to have dry skin, it is gone. Her teeth had tartar and now it is reduced significantly. She is fed twice a day for a total of 3 cups a day. Her coat glistens and she has not smell. There are quite a few good holistic foods these days, but for our girl, she is doing extremely well on the Fromms. We are very pleased with this product.
