Officially I now have two rescues now that we have Layla, and that makes me feel goodTomorrow will be a week since I brought that little doll home. Time sure does fly when you spend your day watching a puppy like a hawk.
I thought I would give you guys the back story on these pups, and an update on how she's doing.
As I have mentioned before I know the ladies that are involved in a few of the rescue groups here on the island. I first saw photos of these pups almost two weeks ago now on the rescue FB page, and I just could not stop looking at the pics every day. So having a MAJOR battle with the little voice inside my head, I had a moment of weakness and arranged to see the little buggars. I had actually fallen in love with the photo of one pup in particular. When I got there though I realized even though I liked the looks of that one little girl that was so different than all the rest, she was the most rambunctious of the lotI certainly wasn't phsyco enough to bring home ANOTHER high energy dog.
She's the mostly white one with brown spots

These guys were born to a sad hairless emaciated dog who died two weeks after they were born. They were never able to catch her for treatment. Eight beautiful puppies, half the little had naturally almost no tail, and the other half have full tails. The lady that raised them did a wonderful job with the puppies with limited resources.
Layla did, of course have worms, fleas and ticks, and a mild case of conjunctivitis. The first few days were rough to say the least, she resisted the crate very loudly. Hubby and I got very little sleep on the second night, but we made it over the hump and she is now acclimated to the crate beautifully. So far, she is as I expected, low energy and a dream to train. After day four she now sits at the door to let me know when she has to go out. She has had a total of TWO accidents in the house WOW! She knows how to sit and shake and we are working on down, come and how not to try climb in laps if there is food around. Poor thing was car sick the first two trips in the car, but she seems to be o.k if she travels in her crate.
Here are a couple more pics of the little girlie

Oh she is just gorgeous. Like you say, she has the most amazing eyes, just beautiful.
I do have to say thank you for adopting her too, I love people who adopt. Do you know how the owner is going with adopting the others out?
How did Kai and Ari take to their little sister? And, did your husband ever have words with you, or is he the nice accepting sort?
Hell, just reread this, I really am quite nosey! :D

Thank you penny! So far only me and one other person has adopted a pup. It's so hard to find good homes here. I do know that there is a potential adopter that wants two of the pups, and I let them know that one of our park wardens was also interested in two pups as well. So if those two guys work out that will leave them with just two, and I know the lady that raised them was considering keeping one of them herself.
So far Ari and Kai are pretty much ignoring her for the most part. I guess they're waiting to see if she's going to stick around.......... once in a while they decide to play with her. Mostly though it's just Layla trying to join in while Ari and Kai are playing with each other.
Luc was great, he was upset at first, but he was really good about it. He was very calm when he got home the day I brought her home. He just said that what I did was not fair on him, and he is absolutely right. Needless to say it will be a very loooong time before another four legged kiddo will join our household........and next time he wants the right to pick![]()
