    Default I have one complaint!

So today I went to the local butchers and got some "soup bones" - no idea what they are, but it's chicken. Possibly some necks, backs, breasts. I found one of the bonier bits and pulled off some of the fat.... and dropped it in Pipers bowl. No idea what it weighed of what % of her daily diet it was, but figured what the hell.

She stared at it for a second and then grabbed it and tried to run off with it. After placing her back in the kitchen she ate the whole damn thing. I've never seen her eat with such vigor. It was really fun holding it while she ripped off pieces and crunched away on the bones. She's a good chewer. =)

...and now my complaint - well she paced around that kitchen for about 10 minutes with sad puppy eyes before heading to the living room and passing out on the couch. I have a feeling she will stalk me in the kitchen. hee hee hee

...I had no idea it would be that easy.

Thanks for all your advice, I always thought it would be complicated in some way... but taking out a hunk of meat and dropping it in her bowl is easier then measuring out kibble and ensuring theres enough canned food to keep her interested.

Piper thanks you for the good meal.

...I should have taken pictures but I was so enamored with how she was eating.

Woot glad she liked it, it is so much fun watching them eat raw! about the complaint... it will happen, when tobi eats his meat only meals he usually has 8-16oz gone in 15-30 seconds, and then looks around at us like "who took my meat"?

She just made a really happy sound in her sleep, almost like she was purring.

She took longer then that luckily! She was a good chewer... and kept licking the meat.

I was surprised at how eager she was to eat the bones!

I have some questions.... she isn't totally "raw" yet - and she gets training treats and the like as she's still a puppy, and she gets treat bones and the like. These all have carbs of some sort in them....

Is it okay to give her a raw dinner when she's had these throughout the day?

She turned her nose up at her breakfast of Origin today so I was thinking of giving her a bigger raw dinner.

i have a feeling she's going to define her menu around raw. once they have it, most dogs don't want other stuff. : )

    congrats

Its fine to feed a few treats throughout the day and do 50/50 raw/kibble.

Do you have plans to eventually put her on 100% raw? If she's already refusing kibble it might be a tough battle until you do switch if that was your plan... :) My dogs did it for a while but I know they prefered their raw meals WAY more than their kibble!!

I want her on 100% raw, but she still has kibble left. I've been using it with treats and putting it in her kong, but she doesn't seem interested. She still likes her carrot though... but not as much.

So today I gave her a chicken back. Once again I had no idea what it weighed and just tossed it in her bowl. She almost ate it all... and we did have one incident today, she got a bone stuck in her teeth. She didn't want me near her mouth but I got it out... and then she ate the bone. I threw the rest of the bony mass out and just gave her the muscle as she rubbed her snout a couple times after that.

Perhaps I was being paranoid but I was a bit worried. I really want to keep her teeth... whippets apparently are not known for great teeth.... and I don't want her with british teeth!
