Today marks 8 weeks feeding raw!! My formerly underweight (I have to get used to saying that) beautiful German Shepherd is doing awesome. We have now added chicken, turkey, pork, and beef to her diet. I have been following a conservative schedule, adding proteins slowly, and I can say she has had no diarrhea since I started. What a change from the first time I attempted raw feeding.
I will be able to get beef heart (grass fed) for a price within our budget. I know it is very rich and not necessarily what I should start out on but is this
a good beef source for the long term? I am placing my order today. Of course, I'll continue shopping sales at my local stores as well. I am happy
with the prices of the other proteins I feed I have just been able to source a good price for beef.

You definitely want to add in the beef heart when ready so if you need to order it now, do so. I'm actually meeting Richelle today (Ania's mommy) to get half of the venison heart case we split. Dogs will definitely love that!
When you can, definitely get grass fed beef for Jody to eat, once you find a source, never let it go!

that's next for my dogs...venison heart yay....but they've already had beef heart....
it is a richer meaty meat....so after a few meals of beef heart, they get a little heavier on bone....i think it's an excellent source for the long term.....maybe that same source has a good deal on beef...
or maybe there's a co op in your area that has the skinny on where to get the good stuff...
i find the same holds true for the grass fed beef we got and the llama....seems the richer the meat, the more likely they need a little extra bone...that's why i keep chickens and pork ribs around.
you may also want to get yourself some chicken liver and start giving thumb sized portions to your formerly underweight gsd...haha.....and start very slowly giving organs....
i think my dogs don't hate liver because we did it that way...either that, or the stars smiled on us with organs because we had so much trouble in the beginning LOL
