Yeah, I can sympathize! Plus its easier on the pocket book for sure! Even though raw is so affordable, I'm sure your monthly meat bill is a fraction of ours!

probably, but i see you scoring free meat....and with smaller dogs....sometimes it's a little too easy to raise the price point, ya know?

    Talking Once a week?

Hi, I am new here and tried feeding raw about two years ago... I only fed the beef ribs, but then I was told that the Beef rib bone was more of a "dessert" bone to be fed once a week. I have poms and I am not EVEN going to feed carcasses...just typing it makes me gag.

I DO want to say that I think from all my research that it is probably great for all dogs, big and small...a couple of mine just never took to it.

Also, after they ate (on) those bones a while ( they were usually always still whole)...they had the whitest teeth!!!

I recommend to all dog parents to feed them at least a RMB once in a while for their teeth...my old girl Sassy had some "issues" and 2 days later she looked like that ORBITZ commercial...:)

On this subject, Tiki got a couple of beef ribs for lunch today (she usually gets them on work days. east to transport, keeps her busy). After she got most of the meat off the first one I gave her the second, then gave Lola, my 3 pound eating machine, the bone from the first. She went to town on it! She's such a little eater and she loves when I give her big bones with a bit of scrap on them. It's hilarious to see her growling and tearing up a bone that's nearly as big as she is

I had some beef ribs that I bought for $.99/lb () a while back, and I gave those to the dogs, generally when I was taking one of them for a walk and not the others. I need to find some more of those for $.99/lb (). haha.

Anyways, I used to be anal retentive about measuring everything out, and carefully marking each back for each separate dog, but then it just got to be too much of a hassle, because the pens would get wet and stop working too quickly, I couldn't get the cap off, so I'd separate everything instead, but then it'd all get mixed up, and blah, blah, blah. So, now, I go by sight, just what I feel is about right, and if they're seeming a bit peaky, I give them extra portions for a few days, or every other day. Or I'll look to see which portions are bigger, and blah, blah. It's so much easier that way.

well, i did it....i weighed the entire bone and then weighed what was left....lo and behold...the amount of meat was just about perfect for malia...and maybe an ounce extra for bubba..

so they can have bones for meals....yay...and this time, no runs.
