At this point I would keep doing what you've been doing as it seems to be working well.

we are still tweaking our dogs' diets....and i have to say it took a complete year for us to see the full effects of this diet.....

there is something from the inside out that just shines, but we didn't see it at four months.

we were a lot like you, or i was, at least.....they got 10% of bone, 80% protein, mostly red meat and fish and 10% offal, five per cent being liver.

once we relaxed a little and fed them with fewer restrictions, and we became braver and expanded their diets...stopped giving treats completely....we realised that subtle deep changes have occurred.

we still research. we still tweak. i still experiment, since malia is showing signs of a stiff leg from an injury years ago.....she missed the bed a few times...maybe her ligaments which were ripped and torn and her tendon exposed....maybe now they are a little stiff from age. maybe there is a little arthritis in there.

we found out the hard way they couldn't, neither one of them tolerate salmon oil, so we have begun other oils for their fur...

give it time and play with their diets....there is nothing carved in stone when it comes to bettering their nutritions and all dogs are different.

we eat vegan at times for weeks at a time, and i food combine to give us the optimal nutrition. i see it not so different with dogs....:)

I noticed a huge difference in daisy one of my dachshunds. She would itch for hours everyday until she would have sore spots she rarely licks or scratches ever. . Her teeth were also in very bad shape in the last two months she looks so much better. She had the most issues thats probably why I see such a difference. With my other dogs their coats seem shinier and my chihuahua's is much thicker with hair growing in areas she did not have any. With my puppy I have noticed a more steady slow growth without any huge growth spurts his coat is very shiny and red and his teeth are bright white. I think maybe huge changes are noticed when dog's had noticeable issues you could see with your eyes. I have also noticed in my older dogs a brightness in their eyes and less of the blue color that comes with the thickening of the lenses they have a very youthful look maybe I want to see that but it seems that way to me.There are also a whole bunch of benefits that are happening internally that we do not see.
