And sent me this article:
It's Not a Tumor, It's a Brain Worm - ABC News
Since I'm newer to raw than a lot of you - I need an intelligent rebuttal please? :)![]()
Raw fed since August 2011
If you Google "cysticercosis dog", you will come up with somewhat differing information such as eating the feces of infected Foxes and it's tendency to infect Cottontail rabbits. I am not feeding wild fox nor am I feeding wild cottontails, so I can sleep at night feeding pork riblets. I would direct your friend to do further research on his/her own.
Have you ever watched that show called "monsters inside me"? It's got all that gross stuff. The worst one I remember was the fellow who had a leech living in his sinus cavities - when the doctor finally got hold of it and pulled it, it was about 4 feet long all stretched out before it let go.
And I do believe they had a show on parasites in the brain. Plus a maggot in someone's eye, etc.
If you're not eating rabbit poop, I'm sure you will be fine :)
We just can't go through life afraid of everything - take normal precautions. Likely, we will die of cancer long before we get a pork parasite in our brain.
I think she's already convinced herself that me, my husband and our dogs are full of worms and parasites at this point LOL I'm gonna give her a big wet kiss when I see her in a few days.

there are a lot worse things you can get from eating food contaminated with feces.
that woman was lucky that a parasite was all she ended up with.
on another note, I was scared to feed my pup pork at first too.
really, I thought he was going to die if I gave him any (a breeder I know subscribes to this idea).
then I started anyway, because at $1/lb I couldn't afford to say no.
of course, then I found out that trich doesn't exist in domesticated swine and that it is illegal (in many states, mine included) to hunt wild boar because they carry it.
now, that's in the States, so I can't speak for Canada, but I would say that it's perfectly fine anyway.
besides kissing, just take a little longer than normal in her bathroom. I bet that would really freak her out ;)
From the actual article I get "Just make sure you thoroughly wash your hands after taking a $&*#". People are so worried about everything that they live their lives in fear. I have a whole tub of freshly butchered pork organs and meat sitting in my fridge and even more in my freezer. I'm not exactly worried.
your friend has too much free time...LOL @op
