We feed as often as possible. On average they get fish once every other week. Sometimes it is half a pound and sometimes it is their whole meal. It depends on what I can get.
I feed fish from the Pacific Northwest (since I do live here) but the freshest fish I have fed has been frozen for years. I got a bunch from a farmer who went fishing in the early 2000s and just never ate them and they had been in his freezer the entire time. I have been buying packaged sardines since I am still in the process of finding fresh, whole fish for an affordable price.
