Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. We recently started nuking the sweets/yams too. lol Also, hubby stopped chopping them up after peeling because we kept thinking one day he was gonna chop off his finger. So primarily we still peel and then just slice and then use one of those old fashioned mashers with the square holes, but in a pinch we have also microwaved. I wouldn't imagine it should make much difference so go for it if you haven't already. Glad she is doing well. Sounds like maybe a little side effect of the stroke with the balance issue. Buit if she is stable and happy that is a blessing!!
