    Default Hello from Brooklyn, NYC

    Hello everyone -
I found this site while looking for information on Raw Food Diet for my pets. I do my own rescue work and have five cats and 4 dogs that have stayed. The last dog that was left in my yard is highly allergic and was on benadryl and immodium for two weeks. As of last weekend, I have switched her to grain free diet along with raw food as its not easy to stock up at the moment. It is a huge challenge as I am vegetarian and also cannot kill for food (religious reasons). I am following suggestions from Prey Model Raw diet and have seen significant improvements.

Hoping to learn and meet new folks on here as well. If you have any tips on shopping for meat in NYC that is reasonably priced, please let me know.

    Thanks

    Vimal

Welcome! There are several vegetarians here that feed raw - I am sure they will be able to give you some tips.

I know even for those of us who eat meat it can be a large ick factor right at first. But, it gets easier especially when we start seeing the huge difference in our dogs.

Hello there, I'm a vegetarian and have been since I was 11 years old and I feed my 2 dogs raw. Its not my favorite thing to do to cut up meat. Since their bodies require meat, I am willing to do it so that they can live long healthy live. Its amazing the change you'll see in the health of a raw fed animal. As far as tips regarding price, talk to any local butchers within your area, Chicken is usually the cheapest to buy (I dont feed much chicken because my one dog cant eat it) so alot of people use chicken as a "base" I like red meat for my dogs. And coming from a vegetarian point of view, one cow gives much more beef then a chicken gives chicken meat. But honestly, its the health of my dog that matters so I put that first. I wont eat it because I dont need it and I'm healthy and happy without it as a personal choice. But thy do need it, so I give them that because they deserve to be healthy.
My dogs are not spoiled, I am just well trained
