My name is Tina and my dog's name is Buddy. I found him on petfinder.com when I was feeling lonely with no family or friends close by where I was living. I wanted a small Min Pin or Manchester Terrier. I fell in love with Buddy as soon as I saw him. He was the cutest dog that I have ever seen. He's a Min Pin/Mix. I adopted him at a Humane Society. He fit perfectly in my small apartment.
After having him for awhile, I started to notice that he is afraid of everyone and everything. He is extremely afraid of men, and it takes him a long time to warm up to them. I believe that my Buddy was a puppy mill dog or from a couple of abusive homes in which the people neglected him. I am his 4th home, not including the time that he spent at the Humane Society.
I love my little guy so much that I am determined to walk him through his fears, so that he gains confidence. I'm glad that I have the patience with him that his previous owner's didn't have. I know that Buddy was meant to be my dog. He has been a blessing in my life.CIMG0373.jpg

Hello and welcome to DFC!
He is so cute! Hopefully by getting him out around people and in different situations you can make him less anxious. Ian Dunbar has some good books on socializing dogs that you might find helpful. Good luck with your little guy.
Welcome!
I am so glad that you rescued him!
Thank you for adopting and saving a life - I am sorry he has fear issues and you are right, he was probably not socialized properly as a puppy.
Have you thought about getting help from a behavior specialist? It takes alot of patience but is sure sounds like you are the person who will make sure he becomes less fearful of the world.
