So, I just finished one of the BEST books I've ever read, and must spread the word!
"A Dog's Purpose" was amazing. I loved it.
It's written in a dog's perspective. The same dog is reincarnated 4 times, living 4 lives one after another, but retains all memories from previous lives as he goes onto the next. His first is as a stray brought off the streets by a hoarder. Then a puppy mill golden retriever who lives with a picket fence type family. Then a search and rescue GSD, and then... ohh I can't give away the ending.
ANYWAY, if you like good books, that are dog-related, this is a fantastic one. My mom is reading it now (who does not believe in reincarnation [neither do i] AND does not enjoy animals...) and she thinks it's really good, too.

Sounds good! I read tons of dog (animal) books! Thanks for the tip!![]()
I've seen a look in dogs' eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts.
People may forget what you said, and people may forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel......

Ummmm... yes, you probably will cry. I did every time one life ended, entering the next... BUT it's not super depressing, definitely more happy than sad. I also read a book called "Lost and Found" last week that was pretty darn good, too.

This is another good read that's coming out in a few days .... some of you might want to add this one on to your reading list:
Through A Dog's Eyes by Jennifer Arnold
I was priviledged to be able to volunteer for Canine Assistants for over a year until I moved to my present location. I knew Jennifer Arnold and she is truly a wonderful woman who has a very interesting story of her own struggles through life.
One of my "jobs" was to accompany some of these wonderful service dogs in training to places that dogs don't normally go. I took them to restaurants, movies, malls, public transportation, and assisted living homes. They all behaved very well and it was a pleasure to be with them. As a group, these were by far the smartest dogs I have ever worked with. The amazing thing is that the washout rate was almost zero.
BTW: There was a PBS special recently of the same title about Jennifer and Canine Assistants. I have it recorded but haven't watched it yet.
