Stray cats have been pooping on my front lawn.I actually watched a beat up tomcat poop in my grass and then walk away. What the heck?? I thought cats burried their mess...?
I would like for my kids to be able to play in the front yard without having to strategically miss the cat poop piles.LOL.... (J/K, I do clean it up before I let my kids play, but it's a pita.)
Anything I can do to discourage this? Please tell me there is.....
You could try pouring ammonia around the perimeter of your yard? Basically "marking" your territory....I know this works with skunks in our area so it might work with the cats in yours.
Or try obstructing their use of their favorite spot...if that makes sense.

There are things that they sell to discourage cats from peeing in certain areas, but the bad part is that you have to spray it every day. I'd personally scare the crap out of the cats if I caught them on my property by letting my dogs out front! Kidding! haha. But no, I'd run out there and scare them myself, though. XP
Also, I've heard that chili powder works sometimes, too, but I dunno if they're not scratching at the ground before or afterwards, then it wouldn't rise into the air and get into their nose, which is why they don't do it, unless they're sniffing the area.

My mother used to put moth balls in her boxwood bushes to keep dogs from peeing on them. It seemed to work. You might scatter mothballs around in the yard.

We used mothballs to get bats out of our attic. I tried them to get deer out of our bushes in the front yard and my dogs actually like the smell of them! Go figure! So mothballs didn't work on dogs for me, but my neighbor had luck using Irish Spring soap shavings. It eventually melts but maybe that would work. It's pretty strong stuff.

Thanks for all the tips! I'll let you know how it goes....![]()
My neighbor's cats poop in my yard, too. Makes for a yummy snack for my Golden (he's the only one who enjoys eating cat poop) UGH.

LOL. I know the not so nice cat poop dog breath too. Gross.
The cats seem to stay out of our backyard. They learned the first few days after we moved in. Kodi, my Rottie who passed, did a great job of keeping cats out of the yard. Now Lucky, my GSH Pointer, does a pretty good job of making sure of that too.I don't really encourage this behavior, but I don't do much to stop it either....
