    Default Carpet beetles!

Ugh, so over the past few months I've found 2 or 3 little bugs which I just bothered to identify today and found them to be carpet beetles. I've been finding the adult form, which are able to fly. The larvae look like little worms and are the ones that damage fabrics.

Turns out they can be a huge pest and now I know why some of my work shirts that have been laying on the bottom of my closet have holes in them. They eat pretty much any organic fiber/material.

Looks like I'll get to give the diatomaceous earth another chance. Cleaning everything is going to suck big time! Looks like I'll need to re-wash all my clothes too.

    Ugh, you poor thing. :(

Keep us posted on how it goes with the DE.

Wear a mask this time! ;)

    Thanks spooky!
I was planning on shampooing the carpets this weekend anyway.
I'm not one to get easily creeped out but the thought of those hairy larvae writhing in my clothes makes me itchy!
Will definitely wear a mask this time. I already have some I bought right after the first time I used it. I am also planning to stick some of the suckers in a ziplock with some DE to see how effective it is, if I can find them. Pretty sure they are in the bottom of my closet and they really did a number on that tee shirt. I hope they haven't destroyed anything I like that was lost in the closet.

This is what the nasty things look like.

I've seen a look in dogs' eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts.
