I feel pleasure living in CA and know no other place like this![]()
make some food icons
We have decided on a new experiment. We've gotten ourselves a motor home and we are packing up the dogs and taking off across the country to see the US. We will check out the states one by one and eventually settle down in the one we like best! It may take years but it will be an experience. We haven't told the dogs yet. It will be their first time in a motor home (ours too!) but we've been reading up on the subject an apparently there are a lot of dogs currently being gypsy's all over the country with their owners. As long as I pack their crates they should be okay. Rocky LOVES his crate and goes in it all day long whenever he wants a nap or is concerned about something.
We did the same thing last year, travelled all over the US and had a blast! My husband and I are originally from Victoria, B.C. Canada, so it was all new to us to see all the States. We now have settled in Nashville, which is a very friendly state.... Though now we have found that the summers are really too hot for our dog, (husky) and I really miss the ocean. So being from the west coast I am hoping we will make the move to California soon. If there is one route you must do it is the Oregon Coast and also the California Coast. It has to be the most beautiful drive, take your time, it is spectacular!!!!
We are currently in Eugene, Oregon. It has been 3 weeks on the road with the dogs and they have adapted really well. Poor Rocky refused to go to the bathroom for 2 straight days since he couldn't find his "spot" anywhere but he finally broke down and now he can find a good spot almost anywhere (excpet in the desert with all those darn rocks and cactus!). So far our favorite place in the country is Devils Tower, Wyoming! We absolutely loved it there. Hated Nebraska, South Dakota, and most of Oregon that appeared to be nothing but dirt and rocks. But we hear that there is green in Oregon somewhere. We are heading down the Pacific Coast highway to San Diego in a week so that will be fun. Some day we will get back to North Carolina but I'm not in a big hurry in August. Rocky has lost every bit of his undercoat inside the motor home until he no longer resembles a Husky/chow so maybe he won't mind the heat so bad anymore but I still do.
May be some quit place near Los-Angeles...? It is very interesting and nice city![]()

Denver, Colorado FTW
We have it all here. Great city that is super close to the mountains (~20 mins) for skiing, hiking, camping, etc. Lots of lakes here for water fun. Tons of dog parks, usually you're at most 15 minutes away from the nearest dog park.
Denver is a very dog friendly city. We take our dogs everywhere with us. Most restuarants let us bring our danes on the patio with us (some actually give our dogs their own "meal" at no cost to us, ie a raw chicken wing or something)![]()
There are tons of things to do here! I wouldn't live anywhere else!!!!
And the best thing? LOTS of connections for buying raw meat. We have a whole sale distributor that we get most things from and butchers for raw game meat. And if you're not on raw, this would be a VERY easy place to start considering the connections here. If you don't plan on being on raw, most of the pet stores here carry all of the higher quality foods....
We spent 4 days in Denver and I LOVED it there. We were actually in Arvada but close enough to Denver. We went to Vail one day and Colorado Springs one day. Didnt' like Colorado Springs at all but loved Vail.
Our only concern about Denver is the water situation. We want to get someplace with land and we hear that there is a lot of trouble getting water rights on your property or sinking a well. I still want to get back to Colorado for a longer trip and check it out in more detail.
I have to agree on Denver. I lived there for a while, unfortunately had to move to Utah when my relationship ended because I had nowhere to live.
I'd move back in a heartbeat. if my fiance didn't insist on going back to Las Vegas to finish dental school.
I lived in Westminster, worked at Camp Bow Wow in Boulder, visited my best friend in Arvada, relaxed at Red Rocks, and spent friday nights in Denver. I would live in any of those places. (well, preferably not Boulder, but it would do!)
It's an incredibly dog friendly place, especially Boulder. There's a ton of outdoor activities, and neat little businesses.Definately go back for a longer stay when you get a chance.![]()
