    Smile Coconut oil benefits?

I found a really good deal on amazon for organic coconut oil, 58 oz for $23 with free ship. I primarily ordered this for the dog since I'm having a hard time finding good sources of fat at the store. But I plan on taking is as well because I've read that it has a lot of benefits.

Does anyone else use this? how much do you eat per day? do you mix it with anything? Have you noticed any health benefits?

We use it all the time. I use it as a facial cream and then wipe was is left on my hands through my hair and it is soft. It doesn't leave your skin greasy feeling. Great on hands and feet. I use it for cooking and my uncle started using it about 6 months ago and it has helped lower his cholesterol (he has changed nothing else in his diet or exercise). The people in the family get a tablespoon a day - kids get it in a smoothie and hubby and I in yogurt, dogs get 1 teaspoon for shelties one tablespoon for collies every other day. They love it! If dogs are eating too lean like venison and rabbit too many days in a row they get oil every day.

I also hear it's good for your brain health so that's something I could definitely use! I have just started cooking with it and also use it on my hands, face and feet. I have a container for us and one for the dogs. I just dip my finger in the dog container and give each dog a blob every day.
And I rub it on the little bald girl in my profile pic to keep her skin soft and smooth!

Big perk for me is it smells like suntan lotion and I always feel like I am on vacation! Coconut, beach, warm water - AAAHHHH

I also use coconut oil every day-- I put about a heaping tablespoon in a smoothie, and have been doing so for a few years now. My dog also gets some... maybe a teaspoon or so a few times per week. I use it also as a body oil... leaves your skin so silky! And if my dog's nose seems a bit dry, I'll rub some on his nose as well. Good cooking oil, too.

There are so many health benefits to coconut oil, mainly due to it's lauric acid profile: Learn About the Many Benefits of Lauric Acid in Coconut Oil.

    And, yes... it smells wonderful.

I get the "pet" kind from tropical traditions, it's super cheap right now because the expiration date is close but it lasts longer than they say anyways, it tastes smoky because it's not deodorized but I still take it occasionally. I used to buy the nutiva kind, it seems to help my males skin issues, I give it orally as well as straight on his coat. I use it in my hair and skin as well.
