    Default I am a bum

So I have been jobless. No education :( Have been whoring out my resumes. Then, yesterday I get two interviews scheduled for today. I got the first job!

    Which is good AND bad.

It's bad because it is not a good job. Low pay, no benefits, and the hours are poop. And there is a chance it will end in the summer.

It's good because it is easy and I get to be around horses! YAY!

I have another interview tonight for a better paying job with good benefits but it will be hectic I have a feeling.

But I am happy because I have the first job for sure! Do not know what I would do if I got BOTH jobs. Guess will have to cross that bridge when I get to it. But *jumping up and down* I am no longer jobless. Yay.

Congratulations! I believe that any job is better than no job, and having a job is a good thing when looking for a job.

It's always good to get experience and build the resume. It's also better to be looking for work when employed. Just because you find one job, doesn't mean you can't keep looking for something better.

Good for you! Happy to hear your not jobless anymore! Just some words of wisdom from someone who has done both! I worked in the horse industry for well over 25 yrs years into my 30's. Had some serious accidents with young horses but not too serious. Decided I needed a little security in my life and insurance so I left the business and went looking for a great job, with benefits, retirement, and paid vacations. I found it very quickly!

If your young, do what you love. But there comes a time when you need the security of Better!

    congrats...and just remember this.

it's easier to get a job when you already have one, than when you don't. :)

Ideally I want a good job sitting in front of a desk with benefits and 401k and all of the good stuff.

This job I got is a foal watching job. I just have to babysit pregnant mares. I love animals. I really love horses. The only horse stuff I have ever been involved with is riding around a half dead nag at a place in camp that charges you a lot for a half hour ride, volunteering at a rescue briefly, and watching them on tv. Will this job secure my retirement? No. Will I get some cool life experiences witnessing baby foals being born? Yep. You can't get that behind a desk.

I am not getting any younger, I know that. If and when this job ends, then I will be a grown up and get a 'real job' LOL. Plus, I still have that other interview tonight. Time will tell :D

Congrats on the job! Working with horses sounds like alot fun, yet alot of hard work also! Keep your options open! Eventually after trying a few things you will find what suits you best!

    Thanks Wags.

    Thanks everyone.

Actually, this job is going to be cake. I don't have to really do anything except call the bosses in when the horse starts giving birth. I am going to be there so the people who do work hard can sleep. at the interview she told me to bring a book or my computer or something. I like easy jobs.

Good for you for getting the job.
It could turn into something even better.
You never know who you might meet while working with the horses.

So I went to the second interview for chiropractor assistant. I was so cool and confidant because I had already secured a job that day. Wouldn't you know they called me back that night? Unfortunetly, I did not get the call for two reasons. One, I had my phone set to vibrate during the HOUR AND A HALF long interview and forgot to turn it up, and two, I was too busy puking my guys out. I feel better now so it was just temporary. They want me to job shadow which I am guessing means they are interested.

I have never in my life had the problem of getting two jobs in one day and having to pick one. Ok, I didn't get the CA job just yet, but it looks promising. So now I have a dilemma. Which job? Maybe you can chime in?

    Foal Watching:
    Pros
Easy job (I can catch up on reading, bring my laptop with me, etc.)
Working around horses (a dream for me and get to see live birth)
Possibilities of future work at this farm

    Cons
Overnight shift (will not live normal hours of life)
Weather (main barn is heated to 40 degrees and break room is whatever I want but between barns will be cold)
    Work may end in June
    30 minute drive one way
Not great pay but there was mention of raises
    Working every weekend

    Chiropractor Assistant
    Pros
Great opportunity in medical office setting (possibilities to be trained in radiology as well)
Normal work hours, most weekends and some Thursdays off
    15/20 minute drive one way
    Long term work

    Cons
    Multitasking more difficult job
STILL working with the public...most of them are in pain
    Have to touch people
Travel (plane trips) and be away from home (which isn't really a pro or con I guess but I'm putting it in cons because this means husband has to care for the pets...oh the horror)
    Not sure on pay

I have called both jobs and am waiting to hear back to set up dates to start. I don't like juggling them but I don't know what else to do. My logical brain is waiting for the CA job as it is permanent and a better opportunity and my animal loving, easy job wanting brain wants the horse job. I don't want to give up either and I also can't work 24/7.

What do you think? I am so indecisive.
