Omg, I love that area! So gorgeous. We're trying to decide if we want to visit that area or somewhere in NC for our Christmas/New Year... It has been hard finding a big enough house (for at least 15 people) that is also dog friendly... And within our budget!

Well, I vaca the mountains of NC, Ga and Tennessee often and Ga has become my new favorite...just my opinion...LOVE 'em all though. They're absolutely beautiful.

What area of NC are you considering?

I agree - so beautiful! Still doesn't top Wyoming (YEELOWSTONE<3), Colorado or Montana for me though.. pretty close however! Oh - I also loved Banff National Park (Canada), it was so gorgeous.

Anyways, really we are looking anywhere from the Smoky Mountains to the Blue Ridge Mountains. For us, driving "far" really isn't that big of a deal... I've gone 20 hours in a car before, so 6-8 hours is literally nothing haha. We are considering this one, but just aren't sure if it'll be big enough.

I definitely wouldn't mind staying in Georgia, but I haven't been able to find hardly any rentals. The ones that are big enough don't allow dogs and the ones that do allow dogs aren't big enough. LOL

No kidding! I used to want to go on a cruise until the last few years. Either you sink, get sick or just disapear over the side never to be seen again. I'll stay on dry land thanks!

I love Texas, and I love being a Texan. I've traveled the world to places including Tahiti, Brazil, Hawai'i, Oz, and NZ and I'd still never call any other place home.

But I wouldn't mind a summer cabin in Alaska

Me too. We still came here a couple times a year while we lived in Indiana, so hopefully August wont' kill me. Some places are just where you belong but if I ever win the lottery I might be spending two months a year up north :)

And there was another cruise ship incident last week - everyone got sick and the cruise line isn't even refunding money. They are offering 25 percent discount on another cruise. Oh boy. And I forgot about the murders - great way to get rid of that irritating spouse!

Did y'all find a place? I agree, there are more rentals available in NC than the GA mountains...mostly second homes.

Yes...Wyoming, Colorado and Montana...absolutely breathtaking...really cannot compare the areas to each other. I am a southern girl and would prefer to live in the southern mountains and visit the Great Plains. Also, the winters...brrr...much rather visit.
