Default Met the breeder I will get my future puppy from

She has been showing and breeding am staffs with her mother all her life. Her dogs are bred not just for health, or to the proper proportions, but for a certain temperment. The temperment is very very even, they are bouncy dogs, without a care in the world. I met one of her dogs the other day and she was a complete doll, today I met a puppy of hers that was 3 months old. It was a doll, LOVED playing and toys, and really really confident! I'm so happy to see breeders like that. I couldn't commend her enough for what she does. :) I really can't wait to get an am staff puppy soon. I plan to do a lot with them. :)

This^^^. Wow, you hit all three of those points, and you are golden, in my opinion.

I want my dog to be healthy, sound in body and mind, and built well. And temperament is key.

    Best of luck with him/her!

Yep. She said I can come over and play with the dogs any time. :) I will for sure. I'm really excited about this temperament she breeds for. I told her its the bomb. Lol. It is though!

It always nice to see some people still do things right :-))

Glad you found them, and cant wait to see piccs of the the little staff

I am kind of curious what the difference is between the american staffordshire terrier and the Staffodsihire Bull Terrier, which I am assuming is the parent dog which was exported to the america years ago.

I have friends that breed the staffies and they are fantastic little dogs, so much fun and so playful. and as pups they are amazing little critters :-)

Bet you can't wait!!!, when do you think you are going to get the pup

I'm not planning on showing...By the way, I work closely with this lady. She is the groomer too at my place of work. But, I think I'll just soak up as much information as I can from her and maybe go to a show or two one day to see what it's all about. I've never been too interested in conformation but now that I know someone who has spent her life doing it, I'm gaining a bit of interest...I'm really interested in other dog sports, so I'd like to see what I can get the pup into as far as agility, rally, weight pulling, etc.

And I just couldn't get over their temperament. It was the most amazing, prancy, look at me ahhhhhhhhhh!, wild kind of personality. I seriously just fell in love. So, I'm not sure when her next breeding is. This last litter she had is going up to houston this weekend to have their ears done. I'm not in any kind of hurry to get a puppy right now though, so I'll wait around and meet her dogs and see who's breeding next.

I'm just so happy I found someone with a line of dogs with such a cool temperament like this - someone I know personally as well. Since I've always adopted, I've always said if I buy a pure bred dog from someone I will be seriously picking over the breeder and their dogs with a fine tooth comb. :p

And so wishing I had taken some pictures of the pup!

they co own quite a few of these dogs too

The SBT and Amstaff are completely different breeds. You can read about the Amstaff here: American Kennel Club - American Staffordshire Terrier and SBT: American Kennel Club - Staffordshire Bull Terrier

I was never really interested in conformation either, but my breeder (and good friend who also got a show quality Rottie pup around the same time I got Sako) kind of talked me into it. Be warned, it can be addicted! She only registers AKC though, if I'm reading right? Sako is dual with UKC & AKC.. I've found UKC to be MUCH more beginner friendly and have really enjoyed the shows I've been to. AKC, eh, it's alright, just a lot more political, especially if you're an owner/handler.

The temperament you describe is how a good Amstaff should be! There are a few lines out there that are known to be a bit stand offish and for the life of me I have no clue why those people keep breeding those particular dogs.

REALLY like Sultan's Kennels boy Rebel.. but of course, I'm partial to the red/whites ;)
