In December I'm getting a puppy!!! I thought we'd get a kitty, but we changed our minds today...well, moreso I found out my fiance is okay with another dog.
I'm pretty sure we'll get a boxer, which would fit right in with the other dogs. I'm so excited!!!! I know I'm still like seven months away from getting her, but I can't wait. I keep looking at breeders online....

Is there any way that we all might be able to convince you to look at purebred rescues?? I know that they are usually swamped durring the summer months, and now with so many people losing their jobs and having to get rid of their dogs.
Just a thought to bring up. Maybe you can find the right dog for you before December.![]()

Of course!! Unfortunately there aren't many around here (Utah just isn't very dog friendly- at all) I've only bought one dog from a breeder, my Corgi puppy... and I watched local shelters and Rocky Mountain Corgi Rescue for seven months before going to a breeder, because none (well, there were only 3 options during those seven months) were suitable with children or other dogs, and that was a mess I couldn't get into.
I'm not even set on purebred, or on a Boxer necessarily. I just want something happy, healthy, and young.(under three years, preferably)

A christmas present! Its only 6 months away! Never too early to start thinking about that holiday haha!
Sounds cute! Your corgi will love having a playmate!![]()
Well, after months of looking, interviewing, and asking around, Jon and I have found a Boxer breeder that we feel very comfortable with in Elko, Nevada. The woman is also involved with the boxer rescue in Nevada, and if any suitable rescues come up between now and December, as are open to going that route. She's watching the intakes for us, and will return our deposit on a puppy from her if we end up rescuing instead, which I thought was very kind of her.
The puppies are due at the very end of his month, so next month Jon and I will drive out there and look at the babies, and she is going to assist us in picking one that will best suit our family and lifestyle. They'll be ready in the beginning of December which was a little earlier than we had planned, but we can definately make it work- and if we feel it's best for the puppy to stay there until the end of December, that's not a problem with the breeder at all. We're so excited. Hopefully we'll be getting a female, and if the name fits, we will call her Annie. I bought material and am making her a blanket already.
I have a feeling December will come even slower now!! We can't wait to meet our new puppy!!! We've even cancelled our honeymoon to be able to have her earlier and avoid having to leave her somewhere. Instead, we'll take a week off of work, and spend tme with eachother and the new girl at home.
Sorry guys, you'll probably hear about Annie for the next six months. Three until we bring her home, and probably the three following that. lol![]()

Well, that is exciting news! There was a little girl boxer puppy in Rocky's kindergarten class. She was a sweet little thing but really really active! It took the first twenty minutes just to calm her down for class. They chose not to crop her ears and she looked really cute with the floppy ears.
What made you pick a boxer out of all the breeds? I'm always curious as to why people pick certain breeds for themselves. You are going to have a whole range of doggie sizes and shapes in your house now!
I love their activity level. I work in the doggy daycare business, and wanted a puppy that will have the energy and stamina to go to work with me and play all day, and enjoy it. My shepherd mix goes with me, but really only has fun for an hour or two, then sits at the fence bored. I usually take him home on my break. All of the Boxers that come can go and go and go and go, much like my Corgi.
We also are not going to crop her ears. I don't believe in the process, and its entirely unnecessary. Plus, I think that EVERY breed is MUCH cuter without the ear cropping done... and all my dogs must be cute. lol
I started another thread about this, but I'll also answer here. I wanted a high energy breed, but one that is also affectionate. i wanted one who can go to the daycare with me and play play play all day long, come home and go for a quick jog, maybe spend another hour at the dog park some days, and then cuddle up on the bed for a movie. Grissom is INCREDIBLY active, and enjoys playing with bigger dogs, but champ just can't keep up.
