    Default juicers

Does anyone have a particular juicer they like? I'm interested in getting one.

I have been wondering this myself lately. My friends are coming over later and one of them is a juicing expert... he recently lost 100+ juicing and is healthier than he has ever been in his life. I'll ask him when he comes over which one he recommends and why and I will report back. :-)

Edit: He recommended a Breville if you are going to be juicing frequently. It's quick and apparently easier to clean out than other juicers he has used before. This Vitamix thingy that people are talking about does sound much more useful though.

If you find an EASY TO CLEAN juicer, let ME know. Juicing is fun for sure. But cleaning the ones I have used.....sucked.

I personally don't like juicers because you lose so much of the nutrition from things by taking the physical "waste" out. I would recommend getting a VitaMix blender, the ones used by food professionals. They're pricey, but worth every penny.

We don't only use it to make smoothies, but we use it to do lots of stuff....grinding whole spices into powders, making aioli, making veggie purees and sauces...heck even making ground raw mixes for my gma's 16 year old toothless cat. These blenders can blend raw bones like nobody's business.

I totally agree about the Vitamix. My son is vegan and makes all of his green smoothies with his Vitamix. He says it's the only machine that really makes all the nutrients available from things like kale, etc. When he house and dog sits for us, he always brings his Vitamix with him - it's the one kitchen tool he can't live without.

So much nutrition is wasted by juicing. By removing all of the fiber your body has nothing to balance out the sugar you're putting in so you're setting your body up for sugar highs and crashes.
Juicing Whole Fruits and Vegetables in the Vitamix® machine

Making whole food smoothies is the best option available to you.

As it's already been stated, the Vitamix is THE optimal tool for this. The best part is you can buy a reconditioned one for cheaper and get the EXACT same warranty that comes with new ones (7 full years!)

Ditto the VitaMix. But they are very spendy, so not in everyone's budget. Same deal with the Blendtec.

I am a Vitamix convert as well. I use mine everyday-- at least once! And the power is awesome. I have had mine for at least 8 years and it's still going strong...

As for the juicer--- I do have one ("Samson") and it's a masticating juicer as opposed to the kind that have a different mechanism that could possibly heat up the juice, thus causing loss of nutrients (forgot what that is called.) Anyway, it is kind of fun to use, as it literally sounds like a person - or very large animal- is chewing through the veggies...

But. The juicer is on a shelf collecting dust (I may use it a few times/year), while the Vitamix is on my counter, front and center.
