Default In a rut...where to go

I'm really down in the dumps. I feel like I'm stuck in a major rut.

I don't know what to do with my life anymore, and feel so overwhelmed and hopeless all at the same time. I cannot find a job. There are barely any to even apply to.

I have always daydreamed of moving far away, and tonight at dinner, my mom's friend asked me if I'd consider it. I would. I guess it's the whole...how the hell do you do it, process.

The only states that truly appeal to me are North Carolina, and then one's out west like Colorado, Utah, Montana, Oregon, etc.

I feel like there's not too many reasons to stick around here anymore. It's SO expensive to live in CT, more than you'd think. And then with the whole not being able to find a job thing...yeah. I pay $650 a month to live in a 450 sq foot apartment.

I have my few friends here, and I'd be terrified to leave and try to build a new life, but I feel like there's nothing here for me. There's always such a weird disconnect between my mom and I. My dad is gone.

I dunno. I dunno what to do. I'm just so stuck...

Sometimes the best thing you can do is start off fresh :) The great thing about good friends and family is that they will continue to be there for you even if you do live in another state. Personally, I would start applying for jobs out of state and see if you can secure one. I personally wouldnt move before obtaining employment but people do it all the time. I would also start looking into cost of living so you have an idea of what to expect. Oregon sounds nice :) So does Montana :)

I'm not sure how old you are. It's hard to leave and build a new life, but it doesn't sound like anything is there for you. It is terrifying, I used to be a contractor and regularly got sent to places where I didn't know a soul, or maybe at best another individual from my company would be there already. Looking back, these moves helped me grow like few other. Lonely at first, very lonely at times, but eventually I met some people and once I made a few friends more followed, and by the time it was was time to leave, it was with great regret.

Go where the work is. I'm not sure where that would be in the US.

These are major decisions you could talk over with friends and family! See how they all feel BUT~~ really do what's best for you ~~~and what's right for you ~~~and what's in your heart! The only person who knows best is YOU! People may be sad you have chosen a different path, but their are so many ways to stay connected to everyone! If you feel a move is right for YOU, then so be it! Adventures are a great thing, and a learning value! You seem very positive on which way your leaning! Do what's best for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen a look in dogs' eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts.
People may forget what you said, and people may forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel......

Colorado is NOT cheap...plus its full of LOTS of people, pollution and...people. Montana is gorgeous, but you'd have to get used to living in the country.

I just moved out of state for the first time and I still can't believe it. Its been almost six months since I moved and its been quite the adventure, damn straight I was scared to do it. I really miss family and my friends. We are making new friends slowly, but they are good ones! But being here is worth it...how did it come to be?

We took a road trip out here. I suggest you do the same, maybe with a friend or two to split costs.

Colorado compared to CT is cheap lol. Maybe not a downtown location, but I don't want to live right in a city either.

I'm pretty adaptable. I moved to PA for 10 months having spent a few hours in the town I lived in, and not particularly liking it that much lol.

Denver is cheap, until you move into the parts that aren't IN the city. The suburbs of Denver can be pricey unless you live in the ghetto. I have my 770 sq foot house IN Denver rented at $895 right now. The current tenant will be gone in about 6 months...There are plenty of similar housing situations there.

I feel ya, I'm kind of in a similar situation, really having a hard time finding myself lately due to variety of issues that I feel too conflicted and embarrassed to talk to anyone about it. If you ever decide to come to NC, you should check out Asheville, I could use a new roommate :)
Its funny that you mention colorado and montana, those are 2 states I'm seriously considering moving to once I finish school. I'm learning more towards Montana, doesent seem as stuck up.

I understand how scary it is. Keep your head up! All your ducks in a row and eyes wide open for opportunity :)

I might go build an igloo and alaska and set up camp there.

Mondo- where the jobs are in the US is a good question...if anyone knows the answer to that, I would love to know ;)
