Default Time for a new Vacuum!

Does anyone have a Shark Navigator? Trying to decide if I need to spend the money on a Dyson or if I can get a Shark...Reviews are pretty even between them..

    I. LOVE. My. Vacuum.

I have the shark navigator lift away. I was dead set on a dyson animal, but I read a lot of reviews, and ended up trying out a shark instead. I use it every day. I love it. Seriously, the first time I used it it looked like I had my carpets cleaned and I was so disgusted by everything my old one was apparently leaving behind. I'm constantly impressed by it. A while back mousse ran through the house with muddy paws and put a giant print right smack dab in the middle of a white square on our $500 area rug. Mud. White rug. Ahhhhhhhhh. This vacuum took it out.
Since I got mine, my whole family has gotten it too. My mom actually bought one because its so much lighter weight than her dyson she got last year, and easier to haul up and down stairs.

I did a blog post about things I do.t think I could live without. This vacuum made that list.

I've read a lot of reviews from people who have had Dyson's and swore by them but then tried the Navigator because of the weight diff. But I never really knew if the reviews were for real or not..Thanks..

I kill vacuums in my house. Best Buy won't even give me the extra warranty anymore. I used to be able to buy a vacuum from them, kill it with Chow hair, and get it replaced several times before the warranty ran out. You should see what Chow clumps do to a beater brush! You actually have to sit on the floor with a pair of scissors and cut the hair off the beater brush because it's been wound around it so tightly the it can't move.

I'm between vacuums right now and also looking for something decent. My husband has resorted to using a wet vac and sucking up the big clumps of Rocky hair and then using the ancient Sears vacuum to get what's left. It uses bags though, and we can fill a bag with one pass over the living room rug. I haven't heard of this Shark Navigator thing. I may have to check it out. I looked at the Dyson but I'm still not sure the beater brush can handle the big clumps of Chow hair without it getting wound around it. (I really do brush the dog!!)

What I really want is to convert the entire house to wood floors!!

When my last vacuum fell apart I ended up with the Dyson DC25. I had heard a lot about them, and then a customer in the store saw me looking at the selection and swore that the Dyson was the best vacuum he's ever purchased. That recommendation plus the fact that Bed, Bath & Beyond was having a sale on that particular Dyson on that very day.. sold me. I love it-- of course I have all hardwood floors, so that makes things easier!

I have not heard of the Shark Navigator.

Good thread, I really need a new vacuum, mine sucks, got a free cheapo from someone else that actually picks up a lot of hair so I dread to see what a good vacuum would do. Unfortunately all my hinting for a xmas vacuum got completely missed. I'm going to have to check out this Shark.

A couple of years ago I bought a rainbow vacuum and it was painful because it was EXPENSIVE! But I have never been so impressed with a vacuum in my life. This thing also can be used as an air purifier and is amazing. I haven't regretted spending the $$ once and I use it at least every other day!

We killed countless vacuums and eventually sucked it up and got a Dyson off Woot. It's awesome! The only issue with it is it flips out in one section of the room due to a random indent in the floor (uh, our house is weird?) so I have to use the hose for that part. With our old vacuums, I always had to cut away hair on the brush like chowder described. I'm sure I'll have to do that eventually with the Dyson but it's already proven to be much better with dog hair.

It's amazing how much stuff it picks up that our other vacuums would leave behind. When I got it, I first vacuumed with our other vacuum and then vacuumed with the Dyson...it picked up a lot!
