Well, I have to say that I have a greater appreciation for my boys now. When it gets "icky" out, my guys will only go out if they absolutely have to and then run right back to their warm, snuggly spot to go back to sleep with only an ocassional "zoomie" run through the house.

The water had dropped a couple degrees since the last time I went in.......in the summer it's like bath water 84 or so
I hate winter, well, the extreme cold and the short days. When it gets dark around 6pm I feel like its bedtime, so its all in my head. I enjoy the slightly cooler temps though, the 70's is just perfect and it's just nice to have a change from the heat and humidity as by the end of summer you are really ready for a break from it. But, when those northerly winds start blowing during winter, it just kills you.
And, I'm just like you with the swimming and water temp. I can only get in if its 84 or over nowadays as thats what our seawater seems to heat up to as well. Back in Kiwiland the water is cold, its just so deep and so south it can never heat up much at all, but I've got soft now and have to get in cm by cm. I use to be a competitive swimmer for years and years and oh man, how I hated diving in at 5am, hated it.
What type of diving did you do for a job?

I know what you mean. I worked as a Diver/Docent at the Coral World Aquarium in Nassau. I would have to work up the courage to jump in the exhibits for morning maintenance during the winter. But this was by far my favorite job. We did our own collecting for the exhibits, and my main responsibility was the shark tank. I LOVED to freak people out by catching a ride on our 9ft long Nurse Shark Unfortunately I don't have any photos, but I do have some pics around somewhere of hand feeding a wild 4ft barracuda. We had a really cool observatory out in the open water and you never knew what would show up for feeding time.
When I left that job I started working for a dive company, so worked my way up to getting my PADI instructor certification. I haven't kept up my cert though, but it doesn't really matter since I can just whip out the rescue card if I ever want to dive somewhere on vacation.

Ahh it's good to live in the southern hemisphere right about now lol sunny and 28 degrees celcius all weekend for me! And it was a 4 day weekend, with public holiday on Friday and my roster day off Monday

Still another 6 months or more before it starts getting cold and rainy again

Lucky hasn't seen much snow yet, she is only 19 months and the past 14 months of her life we have been living by the coast so hardly get snow which is a shame because I LOVE snow and I love winter I like the darker evenings too.

Lucky isn't too bothered about the cold, last week she went to the beach and still waded through the freezing rock pools

I had a good friend in college who went to Australia every Christmas. This was before the days of tanning beds, and she would always come back with a great tan and make everyone jealous.
