can we NOT have a forum without labeling? and feeling threatened?

i am the bad guy here who wanted a barf sub forum so it did NOT dilute the pmr forum....and the reason i wanted it kept separate is because i didn't want my home for almost two years diluted....

or newbies confused.....just because i wanted to do an experiment.

my dog was going bald. ten months into pmr my dog was losing fur.....bald

tell me you guys would not do everything to get your dog to grow hair, especially when the salmon oil may well have been the culprit and stopping it did not reverse the process.

i cannot believe what i am reading.

like everyone else, bill started me before i ever got here...from another forum ......emails back and forth and yelling at me for not doing it right and laughing at me when i got hysterical...and i adored him....and i'm sorry he left....but he left for his own reasons, as he has not shared them with the forum

and suddenly, i cannot believe what i'm reading.....are the pmr feeders welcome? are you serious?

raw feeding is basically a pmr based forum...and that's the way it should stay......it's the only one around that actually promotes pmr...

but to think you're being taken over by barf feeders....my g'd.....really?

    MY DOG WAS BALD.

i'd have fed him rubber if i thought it were the right thing to do and i wanted what i was doing to be kept separate.

[QUOTE=xellil;132898 "I think it did feel like for a few days there that BARF feeders were really taking over. I know PMR feeders get accused of being high-handed and aggressive but I am coming to see that it is because when they post most places they are beat down. So the best defense may be a good offense on a place that is normally very friendly to PMR feeders."

Thank you so much for this post. I guess that I felt that someone was trying to "cover-up/hide something" That always makes me suspicious and Snarky. I cannot think of anything that is too awful to be discussed. So, again Thanks for being so open! I was not told that this would be a PMR list-I had/have no problems with this. I was told that PMR feeders were WELCOMED and that the list was very friendly-which at first I found to be true & I was SO happy for this.

When I see the change that has occurred with the "friendly" part and that I too may be responding to this-it does make me less than happy <sigh>. I will try MY best not to respond to it and just put certain posters that seem to thrive on dissension on "ignore". Again, Thanks Much! CEBF

C'mon people, were all on the same team here...

We all care about our animals, that is why we are here, to share, to commune, and to love our dogs. This isn't about what is better, it's about what is doing the best for our animals. Just because a mod is dabbling with some fruits, and veggies means that you should feel threatened? The absolute only thing a barf sub-section does is make it easier to see what they are about without reading them... if somebody doesn't care about barf they just don't look at those posts that are labeled in there.

This is dogfoodchat, any type of feeders are welcomed with open arms, people need to stop being so petty.

I liked Bill. If he did in fact leave because a sub forum for BARF feeding was created, sorry, I said it before, but I think that's ridiculous. I hope it was something different (but that he and his dogs are okay).

If Bill wanted to openly express why he is leaving DFC he would have done so. I will continue to respect that and not discuss it openly. Nothing is secret, it's just a out of respect that we don't debate about why he left.

People are hurt by him leaving and I'm sorry for that. He helped me tremendously. But because we are upset doesn't mean we treat others unkindly. So knock it off.

If the new sub section on DFC offends you, I'm not sure what to tell ya. DFC is and always will be a place that PMR feeders are welcomed and given their own place to discuss without having to hear bs from anyone else. It's one of the things that really wets this forum apart. There are other BARF forums, yes, but DFC is the biggest nutrition forum on the web and honestly, this new section will just draw that many more people in, it will help more people and more people will even discover PMR after being lead to a place that supports it so freely.

Even our Moderator is experimenting with BARF! THAT really got me!
I won't tell you that- because it's silly to even ask it. Seriously.... come one!
And if my experiment with BARF and homecooked is bothering some people, then that's just plain silly. I'm having an open mind about it. I've never tried either way of feeding, and yeah if one got me better results I would consider switching. I'd do just about anything if it meant my dogs were better off. Logic tells me that PMR is best, and I do have a belief in that. But, how can I defend it properly if I have never tried the other ways? We get ticked off when people bash pmr without ever having tried it.
It shouldn't matter to you or anyone WHAT I feed. I'm a moderator. And I feed raw. I am not a moderator BECAUSE I feed raw. I'm not obligated to feed pmr. I chose to do so on my own free will, and on my own free will and choosing to experiment.

No one is trying to cover up or hide anything. The other thread was removed because it never should have been posted in the first place. It's disrespectful. Nothing is 'too awful to discuss' but there are things disrespectful to discuss. Bill made the decision to leave. He doesn't freaking owe us anything. If I made a decision in my personal life, I sure hope every member of DFC did not feel entitled to discuss it and evaluate it in open forum. If he wants it discussed, he will come start a thread himself.
DFC is and always will be welcoming of PMR feeders. I don' know how it has been any less pmr friendly.

Honestly, the BARF feeders were bullied around here before. Just like PMR feeders are on other forums. Is that fair? Is it fair that just because they feed PMR they have our views thrown on them? Is it fair that PMR feeders that undoubtedly mean well end up being labeled the bullies? Is it fair that we are unwelcoming to a group of people because they feed BARF or homecooked? No, it's not. Think about how PMR feeders are treated elsewhere, and that's how BARF feeders are treated here. We are better than that! I mean, they are doing great by their dogs- they are feeding REAL foods. I think that's great. There is no solid evidence one way or another, so more power to them.

I also want to make it clear that while I did use quotes in this post, it's directed to everyone.

ETA: Bill didn't die, folks. You can still talk to him: facebook, phone. I had a nice text conversation with him yesterday, he is alive and well!

I agree....it is Dog FOOD chat, and that includes raw, barf, homecooked, and KIBBLE feeders too. Some of our oldest (not age, time!) members are most involved in the kibble and canned section and they deserve just as much respect as anyone in the raw section. People in the new barf / homecooked section should get the same respect and treatment. We all love our pets and that is what counts.

I am always open to a new idea and at least willing to listen to someone else's opinion. I may even learn something, or at the very least, meet a new friend who is funny and entertaining.

I'm going to go ahead and close this. The reason is, I refuse for another silly argument to make its way onto the hottest thread list. It really degrades DFC as a whole. If any mods disagree with this move, feel free to open it back up. The original questions of "where's Bill?" has been answered.
