I think that a few people are under the wrong impression as far as how the Moderators of this forum work, what our "job" is, and what goes on "behind the scenes."
First of all, unless we post giving a warning to cool a thread down, our posts hold no more water than anyone elses! We are just members of DFC here to chat, learn, and teach- just like everyone else.
There are no favorites, no "in crowd" or anyone that does not have to stick to the forum rules just like everyone else. We give friends warnings and infractions, and we refrain from handing out unnecessary infractions out of malice.
No single moderator makes the move to ban long-standing members, unless they go insanely over the top. It is discussed. We don't always agree, and that's the point of having more than one moderator. Checks and balances.
Threads get closed if the discussion is too heated, the original topic has been lost and all that's left is attacks, or it is otherwise damaging to the integrity of DFC. Occasionally someone will request a thread be closed, but unless one of the above is going on- it remains open for discussion.
We are not paid, this is not our job. We happen to spend more time lurking and posting than most members, and I think most of you would be shocked at the number of spam threads and inappropriate posts are removed daily. You don't see spammers, real trolls, and incredibly foul language all the time because we are usually on it. But please, give us a break: we have lives, too! We have families, relationships, spouses, pets, careers, and homes just like all of you.
And just a fun bit of information: when you post something, and then go back and delete it because it is out of line, uncalled for, or otherwise makes you look like an idiot: we can still see that.
AS A REVIEW:
Do not insult other members.
Do not use inappropriate language. This forum is open to underage people, and we ought to keep it clean.
Do not copy bodies of text from another forum, without reference.
Don't call people Trolls. It fuels the fire.
Follow the signature rules: do not join to sell your product, do not advertise anything until you are a long standing member. It's appreciated to keep them a reasonable size, too.
Follow these very basic rules, and understand that we simply do the best we can.

I think all the moderators here do a great jobit's definitely not an easy job! Especially when it's done for free, in your own spare time.
My husband was a moderator on a gaming forum for a while, and he would spend insane amounts of time closing threads, deleting posts, cooling the fire in heated debates, etc, as well as receiving abusive private messages accusing him of favouring certain people or being a "corrupt admin". He copped it all the time. And it took all the fun out of the forum for him, he ended up giving up his mod job. So I can really appreciate what you guys have to deal with on a regular basis - though I would hope the DFC members are a little more intelligent than some of those online gamers lol the PM's he got were ridiculous! Some people are just too stupid for words lol
Keep up the good work Mods![]()

Thank you Linsey...someone needed to say it!
I've hardly had time eat this week because work was so hard. The main vet took the week off so I had to deal with the other two "high maintenance" ones all day at work. By the time I got home, I was so tired I just collapsed. Yesterday was especially hard...nearly 11 hours without a single break. DFC is the last of my worries when I get home from a day like that. My man, my dogs and myself are all that are on my mind.
Does it happen a lot around here that the two of the main moderators here (I don't know where Bill has been) aren't watching things every hour of every day? No...it doesn't happen often. I'd say this is the first time we moderators have ALL had other things going on that got in the way of things. We do however do our best to communicate with each other when we are going out of town so the others can step it up, it just so happens that I couldn't do that because of my PAID job this week.
As to the behavior in the thread below...I'm downright appalled. I had to stop reading it because it was a bunch of garbage. Mighty impressive to get to 46 pages, which is a record here I think. But that happened in the span of less than two days, because its an older thread that was revived for unnecessary reasons. I can honestly say that I've never been so irritated by something on these forums...ever. I really don't want to see something like this again because DFC is held to a higher standard than most forums that I know of.
Just had a dog fight....
I don't play favorites here. I would give Linsey an infraction if she deserved it. Do I have favorite people here? You betcha...but that doesn't mean they get treated differently than anyone else. People who break the rules here get infractions, get time outs, get banned, etc. You want to be in the "in crowd" then follow the very few, simple rules we have here. Simple as that.

I think it was a little wrong, as a moderator, PuppyPaws, that you took it upon yourself to insinuate an insult towards another forum.
"There are standards here on DFC unlike some other forums *cough*PBC*cough* and it's best you learn what they are before posting. "
^^ That is what you said and I figure as a moderator you should know better.
Well, I will say this- ALL the mods here do a fantastic job, and I have full respect for you all. I really don't know how you all fit it in your busy days. Its more than I can handle for sure! You are all much appreciated.

Sorry Barbara, I didn't mean for that to sound directed at you because it wasn't at all. I just put my two cents in, stating my feelings towards the mods. Had nothing to do with your comment.

As a member of this forum since its very early days, I just want to say that I really appreciate each and every one of the moderators for the work that they do in controlling the thread content. I know that I would not have the patience that you guys show. Most of the time I just can't make myself read through some of these threads anymore, once they start disintegrating into chaos. But you guys keep on doing it, and keep things under control.
That's why this is still my only forum.

I think our mods are the bomb. In fact this forum has been mentioned on other forums in a derogatory manner but hopefully that is over. Our mods tend to be very tolerant, but they do keep us in check. Thanks to all of them for all the time and effort they put forth to keep the peace here.
