Default Cold season is going to be torture...

    Hey everyone....

Last year I didn't get a cold once! I managed to stay so healthy all season and it was great :)
There's only a few times in my life that I can remember ever not having a cold during the cold season.

This year... I think it's going to be a rough one.

The first week of September I caught this horrible head cold... It took me out fast.
One day I had all the energy ever... Next I felt like sleeping... And only sleeping.
I wasn't coughing With that head cold... I just felt very run down, my face hurt so much and I think I should've taken up stock in kleenex!!

This past week, after feeling healthy for about 2 weeks.... It's back.

This time I am so much more tired, congestion is horrible, and I'm coughing.
Coughing enough to feel like I'll be sick.
Oh ya... Doesn't matter how much u season something.. It all tastes like cardboard to me.
Today I haven't been able to wake up at all.... Just feel like I shouldn't have left bed.

Anyone on the sick roller coaster??? Is there ever an end to this cycle?
Guess this is pay back for missing last year lol..

I have to go back to work tomorrow after having Thursday and Friday off and I just don't know where the energy will come from.

Have you gone to the doctor? You could have bronchitis, or even pneumonia.

Last spring I got what I thought was asthma - worse in the morning, ok in the afternoon, horrible when laying down at night - I had it three months and finally went to the doctor and got antibiotics. It disappeared. It wasn't asthma - it was some kind of lung infection that had set in semi-permanently. I didn't know it could do that. I felt awful, too.

Anyway, i wish I hadn't thought all that time it would just go away on its own.

Good luck - I know you feel awful.

I did go to the doctor during the first round of this and all he said was sinus infection.

I honestly think he's a quack and never trusted what hs said... But I'm waiting for a doctor in the area to free up space to take someone new.

I know this is tmi.... But I'm dealing with major phlegm. Which only makes me choke.

At night is absolutely horrible. I Get so congested I can't breathe.
Then I cough so much my lungs hurt..... :(

I know sinus infections can be really hard to get rid of. also causes all that drainage you have. I'm so sorry - it's not even cold season yet.

Now, I know some folks at work that have sinus issues who swear by mucinex. This may be too much information also but they say it thins out the mucus alot.

Ya... It's been a rough beginning thats for sure.

I can get sinus infections easily also because of my allergies.
Allergic to my cats and at this time of year, another major allergen in ragweed.

I'll check out some mucinex tomorrow :)
Can't take Tylenol sinus anymore cause it keeps making me feel really really drowsy.

I teach elementary school and have the world's worst immune system. I know exactly how you feel. Mine is never more than a simple cold, but I seem to get one every 4-6 weeks during cold season!

That was just what I was going to write in reply to you if no one else had mentioned it. You really should go to the doctor to make sure you do not have pneumonia.

    Or bronchitis.

Last year I had the gombo like that 4x it was misery! I got sinus infections then would get bronchitis from all the drainage. My Dr told me to take Mucinex and flush my sinuses with a nettipot. I flush my sinuses 2x a day now and haven't been sick in a long long time. (Knocking on wood)

    Thanks everyone...

I woke up with a little bit more energy today and congestion wasn't that bad.
    Still coughing periodically though.

    To add to the pile...

An hour after I got up this morning, I found myself covered in hives.
The only thing I can think of is the orange juice I drank. But it's never done this.
I took a 12 hour claritin... I can still see the red spots, not as bad but over the last hour they e become so much itchier.
Boyfriend did use a new type of Fabric softener, but we've use this type before and I've never dealt with this.
The pharmacist at shoppers drug mart says it's an allergic reaction... But to what is a mystery.

I can feel the itchiness coming back slowly.

    Anyone wanna trade bodies!?!?

Ok - you should do this:

    A) Take benadryl, not claritin for acute allergic reactions like hives.

    B) If they are hives all over, you are having a systemic reaction to something. You should call the doctor. I am suprised the pharmacist didn't suggest that.
