Cold season is during the colder months were most people spend a greater amount of time indoors - thus germs are more easily spread. :)

I'm sick right now. My brother came home with a nasty cold last week and it spread like wildfire through the fam. I'm the last to catch it. My theory? I was eating incredibly healthy and sleeping really well then I decided to stay up really late Saturday night watching movies and eating some not-so-healthy food. I woke up with the start of a cold. By Sunday night I had a full blown nasty cold. Guess I shouldn't have bragged about not getting sick. I hate colds.

As for the hives, have you ever been tested for allergies? I will break out (at, what used to be, seemingly random times) in an itchy rash all over my body. One time my left eyelid almost swelled shut. So because of that and a host of other symptoms I finally went to the allergist and found out I'm severely allergic to dust mites, cockroaches, mold and certain weed pollens. The breakouts weren't so random after all. They happen mostly when I've been near/in a place with mold or ate mushrooms. I've been trying different allergy meds for a couple of months now, trying to find something that gives me temporary relief until allergy shots start (hopefully) working.

Besides the hives, what you have sounds like it might be bronchitis. My sister had it earlier this year.
