many countries had a stake in those buildings....not just us....and the people whose blood was shed? they were a part of those buildings.....

i would want to see them be part of another world trade center.....plus, i think it sends a message....if we enshrine it and memorialise it and never build on that ground again, it makes them martyrs to me....and the last thing i would want for those people is to be seen as martyrs.....

i want to remember this day as a day we woke up.....

and be proud of what we put there next...

i don't want to be sad for the rest of my life as i am when i go to arlington cemetery or the vietnam wall or the martin luther king statue....or the holocaust museum.....

9/11 is a time when we put our fists up and say never again, you sons of bitches...you'll never see us cry.....and we build on that ground.....and produce and trade with the world....and make new york whole again....they are broken....

we are broken as long as there is that hole or only a memorial....
But they are building, and it's going to be stronger and from what I remember about it, taller and more "in your face, you can't keep us down" kind of building. It's just not on that spot. That spot is to remember everyone, no matter where they came from. That is where they died.

To me, having that memorial and then that new building is telling them, "Yah, you killed some of us and it hurt but you see we can honor them and show our compassion while we build again, stronger, taller and better. Something you aholes know nothing about!"

True strength isn't hiding your emotions, it's showing them AND STILL moving forward despite what they did. That's what it says to me.

i saw the memorial pools whilst watching baseball....they are beautiful....

and they are right in the spot where tower one and two stood....

are they still going to build the freedom tower that is 1776 feet tall?

if so, re is shutting up and is happy.

    re is happy.

the freedom tower will be finished by 2013.

re should read the news more often.

it will stand tall at 1776 feet. they built the memorial pools first which is appropriate.

thank you serenity.....made me look something up and now i go to bed ten years later a happier woman.

what a great weekend this has been.
