    Default Idle hands...

So since my injury i'm finding it exceedingly hard to keep from being bored... to the point that the dogs are even getting bored with me, they just take the lazer pointer out of my hand anymore rather than chasing the pointer

I play video games every once in a while, but i get bored pretty easily, it's hard to keep my attention (why physical activity has always been more entertaining to me) I've already gotten bored with coloring books (can't get comfortable enough to stay in the damn lines). Tv is exceptionally boring, you can only watch so many episodes of chopped before you want to go rummage the cupboards yourself :P

I've got to mostly stay kicked back on the couch with my feet up, it's hard for me to even use the computer half of the time, but it's a fantastic time killer so it works atm, for a few minutes at a time at least, maybe an hour at a time before i have to start getting bloodflow to my foot again.

I love music, so i do put my headphones in and listen to music for a few hours at a time, even whilst typing this i'm listening to music.

Anybody have any ideas on stuff to do while laid up? I can't rotate much without help, if nobody is here i just kinda flop off the couch so getting up and down won't be an option if it is something that requires basically any thing extra.

poor dogs probably think i'm mad at them too... usually i'm rolling around on the floor with them, or Tobi is trying to take my pants for a walk with me still in them... poor guy gets an "ah ah" anymore when he gets around my leg :(

oh my Robin... which one is more fulfilling? Is it hard? or hard to pick up rather?

I might see about hobbling into Micheal's for a starter kit or something.

I actually hate writing so a book might not be the best thing. /sigh.... knitting might be something i'll be doing lol (you girls)...

I wish i was inventive enough to take over the world... i can barely re-claim the couch after both of the boys are dead set on sleeping where i want to rest my leg!

Don't know! But I do know a few men who do knit, they say it is very fulfilling. I think you can learn online.

I've started looking things up, and it looks like it could be somewhat fun, and fulfilling seeing a nice finished product...

Might have to start a little scarf making business :p

well now you are in my world...

that's why i have a lappie on the couch....i have my pda so i can play angry birds...

i google everything and every one....'course, in your shoes, i'd be researching the surgery...because i am a control freak.

course, i'd also be getting up once an hour to maintain the circulation in my body.....even in your case, do that.

go into the kitchen, look for things to cook. even if you can only stand for ten minutes at a time, it's long enough to make a smoothie, soak some beans, marinade some meat....etc...

you can also get onto the floor as long as your leg is above the level of your heart and you can play toss with your dogs...

it's hard, david, i know...i don't know what your interests are, and btw, colouring in the lines is never any fun...

you might want to get a blank book and try your hand at doodling or scribbling....

    if you're a puzzle guy, that's cool...

do you have netflix because there are lots of movies to watch from documentaries to dumb and dumber....

being laid up makes your world smaller....i know and you have my complete sympathy..having done this for a long time.....even i get a break because i can walk....and still do walks and laundry and cook, albeit slowly....

Great ideas for circulation Re! thank you, when i finally do stand after 4-6 hours it feels like there is so much fluid running down my leg it's unbelieveable... suppose i was staying too long with it up. I can't stay up for more than 5 or so minutes atm, it's killing me :( so i can barely go into the kitchen to help break down chickens and stuff like yesterday

I'm not sure about looking into the surgery... I'm going to have to pay out of pocket so i don't know how many choices i'll honestly have :P

I love puzzles... that's a great idea, and word finds are kinda fun too. You gave me an idea though, i used to make illustrated mazes when i was a kid 7th-8th grade free-hand... i might try my hand at those again.

We have access to netflix on ps3 we might give it a try and see if we can find some oldie (but goodies)

Great ideas so far you guys! thank you so much!

btw... i'm not sure anybody here would want me randomly bedazzling things! the poor dog would end up looking like a rapper!
