:D I'm so excited.
I've been in an apprenticeship program for almost 3 years now, and have been teaching the last year and a half. I love it. Can't wait to have the CPDT title. I'm studying for it now, typing up some outlines and notes of things from so long ago. Going over them, reading through some books. It's been a long time since I've had to study this hard for an exam. Taking it on the 20th so I have a good amount of time to really review.
>:D
If I pass I will be the youngest certified trainer in the nation! Getting the certification at 18 still (turning 19 in October) AHHHH. Sorry, had to share.
AND OMG. John Rogerson is having his last seminar in the US in Colorado. Thinking about driving up there for my bday lol. Eep so excited to start earning more credits doing online seminars as well. ^___^" I love this field of work.

Congratulations! I'm sure you will pass, especially since you are taking so much time to review.

Hope so. I had to earn over 300 hours and such. I went way over in the amount of time but did not count the hours in the first two years of training. It's just really satisfying to finally be at this stage. :]

Congrats!
Okay, I'll show my stupidity. What is CPDT?

You are awesome Kelly and you are only going to get more awesomer the older you get and the more experience you get. I'm so impressed that you knew so young exactly what you wanted to do and you just did it. Congratulations on being almost there. I'm so proud of you!

Well, Penny, I have my dad to thank for helping me decide on this. And my dogs. It wasn't something I just thought of one day, ya know. :p It just developed into something I love so much I'd be happy to spend my life doing stuff revolving around it. Unfortunately there isn't too much money to be made in the field unless you're a behaviorist or somehow make it really big. :p I don't care too much about the money though, I can always have another part-time supplementary thing on the side.
Thinking about doing a vet tech program, which from what I understand takes a while so I should start soon. But there are so many other things I want to do in college. Right now UT has some really cool behavioral studies involving dogs with Sam Gossling. Idk, I really want to get a degree in behavior analysis. There is just so much to look into my mind is racing. xD
Natalie, maybe I'll see you at an APDT conference some day. :D :D

Oh absolutely! I am coming back to Denver for a 3 day hands on training seminar with Sarah Kalnajs next february...you should come up for it! Should be a blast!
It's awesome...my new job totally "uses" me for behavior questions. The vet will come out and tell me to go into a room to answer behavioral questions that clients have. I actually have my first client signed up for a private consult that I met at work. So damn excited....training recharges me! And I'm in need of a good recharging
I think being in the position of vet tech, you're at such a good advantage of applying yourself in a specialized way...like being the in house behavior expert or nutritional counselor. I'd look into if I were you!
