    Default New puppy question

    Hey everyone,

I picked up my papillon puppy this morning from the breeder, I was wondering when I could wash her? She is stinkey from her litter mates but I do not want to freak her out so soon. If I washed her tomorrow, would that be too early to introduce her to baths?

    Thanks!

Oh I am so jealous,I love papillions. If they wouldn't be treated like a chew toy at my house we would definetely get one. How adorable!!!! I would definately give that baby a lovely warm bath in the sink. A couple of inches of warm water, gentle soap and you talking and gently rubbing him down is a nice bonding experience then cuddle in a big fluffy towel to dry. Sounds nice - makes me want to go home and jump in a bath. Hopefully her breeder has already bathed her several times so this would be a piece of cake. If this is her first bath just take it slow and calm and try to convince her this is actually a doggie spa experience. Have fun and more pictures when she is all fluffy please.

I washed Malcolm soon after he arrived, because a) he was covered in mud from the rainy spring weather, and b) I wanted to get him used to it before he became a 70-pound behemoth. :P

    He did just fine.

My best tip: smear some Peanut Butter on the side of the tub/sink for your pup to lick while you wash her - it's SO much easier when they're focused on something!
