    Default Suppliments and other questions

So I am doing my research on raw diets and have yet to find supplement, recipes that I can base off of

where can I find a good amount of recipes that doesn't beat around the bush? i am not looking to feed prey model but rather Barf.

I will be doing research before my dogs bag of food is up so I have time to calculate and go from there as her bag will last nearly two months

I know to stay away from raw pork, salmon and majority of dangerous foods.

has any one used a baby bullet to puree veggies and fruits to mix with ground meats? I know some dogs pick around the veggies and fruits. when you puree do you freeze it?

what supplements would be safe for a pup?

She currently is on Orijen puppy

Check out my link in my sig.

Do some more research and when you find any nutrients in fruits/veggies that are not in meat, bones, and organs then feed BARF. I think you won't. Do enough research and you will see that BARF just isn't needed and is way too much trouble. My dogs haven't had any fruits/veggies in over 9 years with no apparent nutritional deficiency.

I've been feeding raw pork for 9 years with no problems. Almost everyone here feeds raw pork. Salmon is ok once its been frozen for a few weeks. The only dangerous foods are fruits and veggies.

They pick around them for a reason. They are not appropriate foods for a carnivore.

No supplements for a couple of months at least. After that, only salmon oil or fish body oil are all thats needed.

I have fed both a prey model raw and a barf style diet. Let me tell you from experience.....if your dog is healthy a PMR diet is the way to go. Hands down.

All a dog needs is raw meat (pork is fine), raw bones, and organs. The only reason I feed a barf diet is do to a health condition my young dog has. My 12 year old Pointer is on a PMR diet exclusively and is the picture of health.

I really would do some research on a PMR diet. It makes sense and is all that a carnivore needs. And....it is SO much easier! Good luck.

Thanks, (like your link said...I worry too much about the diet) I posted because my computer had to be reset to factory after an issue with it so I lost my raw feeding recs and other things needed so it's like starting all over again and with me being relatively new to it still I feel that I should balance everything out with added sups, fruits/veggie to make me feel more comfortable but I think I will do my research on prey model. I have a good few months and had wanted to go to a raw feeding seminar out my way so I could gain more info.
I know the percentage needed for my active dog vs my house dog and everything, they are fine but I have never fed a pup raw. so in this comes another question..would it be safer to hand feed the raw meats and bones to the pup so she doesn't choke? usually I don't have an issue with my dogs, they chew and I am most likely just being paranoid but would it be easier to ground up the chicken bones and meat at the butcher for the puppy? and want are your thoughts on wheat grass for dogs to aid in digestion once a week what are the benefits of kelp? I have also heard good things about coconut oil but would majority say no to the added supplements like wheat grass and coconut oil or is it always better to have them on hand just incase you feel they are lacking in some way or another. I know people who do add some other supplements other then just fish oil but then again this is all stuff that I have read on other forums and stuff I was told specifically by other raw feeders. now, whether they were prey model or not I couldn't tell you but def will be doing ALOT of research before the swithc. I have a bag I just opened of Orijen so It will las a good while before I switch so it gives me time to do all the research I need.
