    Default Treats

What can I make to give that will coincide with Prey Model Raw?

I don't wanna give flour and all that.

Any suggstions? I mean I could dry my own but not sure exactly how to do that in the oven. I heard you arent suppose to feed dried liver as they already get enuff of that in their diet per day/week.

So any treats would be overeatting or no?

I have only dried liver and tendons for the dogs. You could dry any lean meat in the oven. Partly freeze so it is easy to slice thin, place on a rack over a cookie sheet or possibly foil to catch drips. Leave in a warm oven with the door left open until dry. I usually leave jerky chewy so always store it in the freezer just in case.

I weighed the liver before and after drying so I know how many grams is equal to an ounce so I don't overdo it. The slice reduces in thickness more than width and length so it still looks like a lot of liver. When I take more out of the freezer I cut it up into the equivalent of 1/2 ounce bits and may offer one a day, no more.

For training treats I just slice lean meat and cook it. Easier to pinch off bits and not out of the refrigerator long enough to offend my nose. I drop the sliced bits into a frying pan, cook until smells good, cover pan and turn of heat. Usually if I leave it for 10 minutes the meat is cooked enough to not be gooshy inside.

I have made plain omelets and left them to dry so they aren't gooey but last time it was too much for Max's tummy.

Meany me, any treats are part of his daily ounces. At agility trials where he is stressed any extra food is trouble.

there are some treats that aren't chock filled with ingredients...but read the labels....make sure....some are jerky like....reason i don't use them is the sodium and or sugar content....there are flour free treats.

i make my own..with strips of chicken or beef or pork....and cut them into tiny treat sized pieces, put them on a flat surface like a cookie sheet...and just slow cook at 275 degrees until they are stiff and dried out.

many people use a dehydrator....which is probably cheaper than what i do....and if i had one, i'd use that. but, since i don't....i use the oven...

I was wandering about treats and found this thread. I'm so happy for the idea for dried chicken in an oven and already made it. So we can take the treats to the park.

I do diced organs/heart/gizzards, if for training outside of the home I bake them in my oven, or just freeze if for at home.

    Bake:
    1.Pre-heat oven at 200*f
    2. (if you are baking or 1. if just freezing)
Dice what ever Im doing into small pieces(ie. the size of my pinky's fingernail.)
    3. Put onto foiled cookie sheet.
    4.Bake for 30 minutes.
5."Roll" so that it is all mixed up.
6.Bake for another 20-30 min depending on your oven.
    7.Cool.

    8.(or 2. if just freezing)
Put sheet of now baked treats into the freezer
    9(or 3.)
Once frozen individually for at least time to TOTALLY freeze put into baggie or Tupperware.

These have never stuck together on me once I do it in these steps...and my boys LOOOVE them!

I do a lot of lung on the dehydrator. It is not as chewy as the liver, much lighter and makes for great training treats.

Ive been giving Kiya Benny Bullys Benny Bullys Pet Treats

I thought it was the closest treat to her raw diet, I do want to try and make my own treats and see how that turns out.
