though I'm personally vegetarian and would like to feed my dog vegetarian food I don't have the knowledge to make sure to include all the vitamins/minerals needed. dog treats, not food. he eats normal dog food.
I don't have meat in my house but sometimes my friends bring some over to cook with. I've noticed that when they'd make homemade dog treats(allergy free supposedly)with meat of any kind, or have my dog store bought(or even just plain meat)it makes him sick. there's specific organic meats he's not sensitive to but are too hard to find...
so I'd try making him vegetarian dog treats and he was fine. but I only have one recipe and it's too bland for him. tossing him a carrot or something isn't really appropriate for a treat...<<
anyone know of any meat free/vegetarian treat recipes?
You can finds tons of these over the net. A lot of them use pumpkin. There are different types of flour if the dog has an allergy that can be subbed into most recipes. I'll post more later on if you want to see what I've tried in the past before I started on the raw diet. Now, I get to eat the vegetarian treats since I am a vegetarian too. My dog, I'd be very afraid to stick her on a vegetarian diet. It would look really funny to see her eating a veggie meal with those huge canine teeth.
You'll notice these forums are heavily based on raw feeding and high end commercial dog food. I can't imagine anyone here would advocate a vegetarian diet for your dog, which would explain the lack of replies for the first month that your post was on here...
Are you dead set on not feeding your dog meat because you don't eat meat? or is it because you think meat makes him sick?

I agree. Dogs are carnivorous animals. Feeding them a vegetarian diet harm them.
