    Default ice treat

sometimes i'll blend chicken livers and gizzards
in the blender with water. when the mix is blended
i'll pour it in the ice tray (maybe adding more water)
and freeze it. there's a lot of things you could blend
and freeze and use as a treat.

Good idea...though I could see myself adding that to someone's drink, and them getting quite a shock. I'm forgetful like that. :)

HAHA, yes, that is why the dog's ice cubes in this house are in a TOTALLY different looking tray AND freezer...cause I can TOTALLY see husband making me a cran/vodka with the "cranberry juice ice cubes"!!!LOL

I give beef ribs frozen.. "meatsicles!"

Other than that I don't really give anything frozen... since they like their gizzards etc whole.

My friend, who lives where it is H-O-T, freezes huge round cake-sized ices for her crew. She has a mold for it and a stand on a spike for the lawn - I think she uses chicken broth (dunno if homemade or low salt) and includes pieces of fresh fruit, etc. I have not evolved beyond occasional stuffed kongs (froze one yesterday - but I can see this on a long hot weekend day for sure!)

ETA - here's how she described the last batch: It's called a Cool Dogz ice treat maker. You just put a bunch of stuff into a liquid based mess. How is that for a description? lol That one was home made broth , carrots, boiled chicken pieces and treats and everything went into a bucket that comes with the metal attachments that go into the ground. Then into the frezer. There are different recipes one can try. Sometime I use whole grain cheerios with apples pieces and water with a mild hydrating powder in it, on hot days, or peanut butter and nectarines plus water. The dogs here love it.

Good Idea! Luigi likes frozen things, maybe another way to sneak in organs (though he won't eat just a frozen peice of one)
