As with all dog food recipes the first thing we are going to look at are the first five ingredients. The first five ingredients are a good indication of the quality of the dog food. When looking at the first five ingredients you want to make sure there is plenty of meat and grains are minimal.

- Lamb Meal
- Brewers Rice
- Whole Grain Brown Rice
- Cracked Pearled Barley
Lamb is the first ingredient in this recipe. This ingredient is inclusive of its water content. Meaning that once the water is removed and this ingredients becomes a dried ingredient it will weigh significantly less, thus making it fall further in the ingredients list.
Lamb Meal is the second ingredient and is a named meat ingredient. A dog’s diet needs to based on the fact that dogs need meat and protein that derives from meat.
Brewer’s rice is the third ingredient and is a lower quality grain and is also considered a by-product.
Whole Grain Brown Rice is the fourth ingredient and is a decent quality grain that adds additional protein and carbohydrates to your dog’s food.
Cracked Pearled Barley is the fifth ingredient. Barley is a decent quality grain. If there are grains we would prefer to see this grain over others.

FYI….Exclusive L&R dog food does not have corn in it…wedsite incorrect in the area of good and bad.
This is a good quality food. My bird dog’s coat and shedding has improved while she runs circles around most dogs.
My German Short-hair was having allergy issues specifically with skin and his ears. I was told by a veterinarian we would have life long problems with him. After feeding Exclusive Lamb and Rice we have had zero allergy issues! Its been over a year allergy free. My Vizsla also does well on this food.
recently slowly switching my pugs food from diamond to lamb and rice Exclusive.
1/2 diamond 1/2 Exclusive. Nelson will pick out and eat the Exclusive before the other.
He loves it. Will never switch Brands again.
