Exclusive Chicken and Rice Puppy Dog Food Review

As with all dog food recipes the first thing we are going to look at are the first five ingredients. The first five ingredients are a good indication of the quality of the dog food. When looking at the first five ingredients you want to make sure there is plenty of meat and grains are minimal.

First Five Ingredients:

Exclusive Chicken and Rice Puppy Dog Food First Five Ingredients:

  1. Chicken
  2. Chicken Meal
  3. Cracked Pearled Barley
  4. Whole Grain Brown Rice
  5. Corn Gluten Meal

Chicken is the first ingredient in this recipe. This ingredient is inclusive of its water content. Meaning that once the water is removed and this ingredients becomes a dried ingredient it will weigh significantly less, thus making it fall further in the ingredients list.

Chicken Meal is the second ingredient and is a named meat ingredient. A dog’s diet needs to based on the fact that dogs need meat and protein that derives from meat.

Cracked Pearled Barley is the third ingredient. Barley is a decent quality grain. If there are grains we would prefer to see this grain over others.

Brown Rice is the fourth ingredient and is a decent quality grain that adds additional protein and carbohydrates to your dog’s food.

Corn Gluten Meal is the fifth ingredient. Some believe that’s dog’s digestive systems have a hard time digesting this ingredient. Corn in excess has also been linked to many cases of dog allergies.

GREAT dog food for the price. $1/lb is hard to find a food this good. Sure it has minimal amounts of fillers, but the foods that don’t cost over $2/lb. I’ve been feeding it to my 4 month old black lab since 6 weeks and he’s doing GREAT! Full on energy and healthy shiny coat. Good, affordable food that is avail in my area.

I would never call any dog food with corn gluten meal and beet pulp in a great food this is at best 2 star food, out of 6 stars. It also contains ethoxyquin, a posion.
