As with all dog food recipes the first thing we are going to look at are the first five ingredients. The first five ingredients are a good indication of the quality of the dog food. When looking at the first five ingredients you want to make sure there is plenty of meat and grains are minimal.

Chicken is the first ingredient in this recipe. This ingredient is inclusive of its water content. Meaning that once the water is removed and this ingredients becomes a dried ingredient it will weigh significantly less, thus making it fall further in the ingredients list.

Chicken Meal is the second ingredient and is a named meat ingredient. A dog’s diet needs to based on the fact that dogs need meat and protein that derives from meat.

Brewer’s rice is the third ingredient and is a lower quality grain and is also considered a by-product.

Oatmeal is the fourth ingredient and is a decent quality ingredient. If your dog has allergies to Oatmeal Gluten one should avoid this ingredient.

Whole Grain Brown Rice is the fifth ingredient and is a decent quality grain that adds additional protein and carbohydrates to your dog’s food.

    I think Exclusive Chicken Adult Dry dog food is superb!! It helps dogs eyes and Chicken Soup Large Breed Puppy does not!!!!!
