Evangers is made and manufactured by, Evangers Dog and Cat Food Company. Evangers dog food comes in two recipes in two different sizes, either a 4.4lb bag or a 16.5lb bag.  For the 4.4lb bag it will run you 7-8 dollars and the 16.5lb bag will run you 26-28 dollars depending on the formula.

Evangers Chicken with Brown Rice Dry Dog Food Review

When looking at dog food ingredients there are two things you want to look at. The first is the main fat content. Everything before the first fat content are going to be your main ingredients. Then of course you want to check it out the first five ingredients. In our case the main fat source is our sixth ingredient and comes in the form of Chicken Fat.

First Five Ingredients:

Evangers Chicken with Brown Rice Dry Dog Food First Five Ingredients Analysis:

  1. Chicken
  2. Ground Brown Rice
  3. Chicken Meal
  4. Potato Product
  5. Pearled Barley

Chicken is the first ingredient of this formula. This ingredient is inclusive of its water content and once removed, (making this a dry ingredient) it will weigh significantly lower, thus falling further in the ingredients list.

Ground Brown Rice is your second ingredient and is going to be your main source of grains. This will probably be your first true ingredient. Rice is commonly used in dog food and it a good source of additional protein and carbohydrates. Rice is a decently quality grain and we have nothing bad to say about it.

Chicken meal is the third ingredient and is a named meat. Dogs diets are based on the fact that dogs need plenty of meat and protein that comes from meat.

Potato Product is the fourth ingredient and is a good source of carbohydrates and vitamin-b.

Pearled Barley is the fifth ingredient in this recipe and is also considered to be a decent quality grain.

The fat content is the 6th ingredient and comes in the form of Chicken Fat. With this being said the first five ingredients are going to make up the majority of this dog food. We don’t consider this the best first five ingredients we have seen but its not the worst. There are decent quality grains and an acceptable amount of meat content.

Evangers has been around since 1935, family operated business, and never involved in a pet food recall. Along with Fromm there are no safer pet foods on the market with a comparative history!
