Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Adult Dog Light

Even though there are 4 named meats in the first 5 ingredients of this dog food, there are also 5 ingredients that are either grain or otherwise before the first fat. This leads us to believe there is not as much meat in this product as you might think. It is a very good dog food made with a lot of high quality ingredients. We could find nothing on their website about the use of ethoxyquin in the fish meal, by their suppliers.

Hi! Just found this site & I love it!!
Had some updated info for you. Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul does not use Ethoxyquin. If you go to their site, click on Q&A, go down to ingredients, you’ll see that someone has asked this very question! I only looked at the dry dog food part but I’d think that it’s standard for all of their foods?
Actually, the whole Q&A page is very interesting if you feel like reading. They don’t give standard answers, but in-depth ones and explanations.
We use the light version, which doesn’t have as much protein but, that’s what we need for now.
Thanks for all the great info!!!
    Keep on barking!!

I try to feed grain free but Its hard to keep the calories down and lower the portions to a satisfying level ….I have a chocolate lab that is a chowhound… will be hard pressed to find a decent food with lower calories than this … i mix this with Taste of the Wild Stream and a dollop of evangers classic chicken … the vet recomended Science Diet RD (bleh corn meal!) …. Not the best pure food but if you need a low calorie quality ingredient non grain free food this is it!
