“Embark” Is grain free and gluten free – ideal for for dogs who have allergies or sensitive GI tracts. It’s also great for active puppies and dogs with cancer as it is low in carbohydrates.  As with all of The Honest Kitchen’s foods, this is a high quality formula.  The only down side is above average price tag.

First Five Ingredients:

  3. Potatoes
  4. Celery
  5. Spinach

Hormone-free Turkey is the first ingredient, and accounts for the majority of the protein in this food. Turkey is considered a quality meat, and is one of the mainstay foods of a raw food dog diet. Hormone free turkey contains no antibiotics.

Organic Flaxseed is the second ingredient found in the Embark formula. It is high in Vitamins A and K, as well as Minerals Magnesium, Manganese and Iron.

Potato is the third ingredient in “Embark” and provides complex carbohydrates for your dog.  Although not as nutritionally potent as a sweet potato, white potatoes provide a good source of energy.

“Keen” Is The Honest Kitchen’s least expensive pet food of the mix and is formulated for dogs of all life stages.  Although the second ingredient in “Keen” is a grain, organic oats are considered a “quality” grain as opposed to other lower quality “filler” grains.  Keen is a balanced, low-gluten dog food free of fillers or additives.

“Thrive” Is The Honest Kitchen’s simplest formula, with only 7 ingredients. The ingredients in Thrive are very specific in that they are not common allergens.
