Bil Jac Senior Dog Food
Bil Jac Senior Dog Food is made and manufactured by, Kelly Foods. I don’t say this often, but this may actually be one of the worst dog food brands on the market. Let me explain myself.
Bil Jac Senior Dog Food Review
The most important ingredients of dog food brands are the first five. The ingredients in a label are sorted by weight, with the first ingredients weighing the most. When looking at dog food brands you want a sufficient amount of meat and protein in the first five ingredients, with minimal amounts of grain.
First five ingredients of Bil Jac Senior Dog Food:
- Chicken
- Chicken By-Products (Organs only, Including Chicken Liver)
- Oatmeal
- Corn
- Dried Beet Pulp
Chicken is the first ingredient. This ingredient is inclusive of its water content. Meaning that once the water is removed and the products becomes a dry ingredient it will lose a good portion of its weight, thus making it fall further in the ingredients list.
The second ingredient Chicken By-Product is one that I usually tell people to stay away from. In this case the manufacture states what is included. Now Chicken By-Product ingredients turns into a decent ingredient, organs and chicken liver are very nutritious, and a wonderful part of a dogs diet.
Oatmeal is the third ingredient. Oatmeal is a decent quality grain. One should avoid this ingredient if your dog is allergic to Oatmeal gluten.
Corn is the fourth ingredient. Corn provides your dogs with no nutritional value. Dogs digestive system have a hard time digesting this ingredient. If you feed your dog a corn kernel, you will get a corn kernel out. Corn has also been linked to many case of dog allergies.
Dried Beet Pulp is the fifth ingredient. Some believe that case of Kidney and Lover problems have been traced back to the us of Beet Pulp.

Review

Especially with the chemical preservative BHA, the sugar, corn, by-products, lack of quality grains or protein sources why this food managed to get even a slightly higher rating is beyond me.
Biljac has more fresh meat than any other dry dog food on the market. Not meat meal as all other kibble based dog foods contain. Meat meal – That means rendered meat, cooked at high temperature, reduced to a powder, bought from large unspecified meat rendering plants, and shipped around the globe as ingredients for pet food. Try asking any of your holistic super-duper kibble brands where they get it from. The same with the vegetable proteins they use because they are more interested in marketing slogans like – “no by-products”, than they are in feeding your dog the nutrition they need as carnivores. I’d rather feed my dog specified by-products any day than vegetable protein. What ingredient has been responsible for the most widespread recalls?
You are mis-informed and if you care about dogs you will rethink the notion that kibble is anything but a cheap way to make dogfood that is responsible for overweight dogs, bloating, torsion, and ill-informed consumers and holistic dog food retailers.
I feed my dog BilJac and have never found a better results from a dry dog food. And no more vomiting from bloated kibble.
I have some BilJak Senior left over right now. I’m not happy about the BHA and when it’s gone I will stay with the Taste of the Wild & Orijen. My clan (Dogs & Cats) have been showing immediate signs of feeling and looking peak! I am looking forward to less shedding as well.
I have a 12 year old husky mix that has eaten Bil-Jac her entire life. People that see her do not believe the dog is 12 years old. Full of energy, completely healthy check-up last month and a beautiful coat of hair. Not to mention the vet said the nicest teeth on a senior dog she has ever seen. Any dog that has ever visited us has refused their food and eaten a treat of Bil-Jac instead – didn’t matter what brand the people were feeding them – they 100% chose the Bil-Jac when they had the opportunity.
my senior was definitely feeling her age.I fed her bil-jac and she was like a new dog.I dont know whats in it but it was definitely the bil-jac.I could not afford to feed it to her all the time and when I would switch back to her regular food she would just seem to age. So I started mixing it in and that was enough for her to be chasing birds at twelve yrs old AND being a St.Bernard.My baby lived to 14 yrs old.Not to many st.bernards that age running let alone living!
I’ve tried Bil Jac and my dog doesn’t like it. It never made him feel good either. We’re on a mix of Exclusive Chicken and Rice Adult, Purina One Beyond and Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover’s Soul Large Breed and he is doing terrific. P.S: What’s the 2 rating sections for on here? Both are called ratings and one’s a star area and the other just a thumb’s up. Also, how do I find letters people send me on here? Thanks. Maybe one day I’ll know.
