Bil Jac Large Breed Select Dog Food

Bil Jac Large Breed Select Dog Food is made and manufactured by, Kelly Foods. I don’t say this often, but this may actually be one of the worst dog food brands on the market. Let me explain myself.

Bil Jac Large Breed Select Dog Food Review

The most important ingredients of dog food brands are the first five. The ingredients in a label are sorted by weight, with the first ingredients weighing the most. When looking at dog food brands you want a sufficient amount of meat and protein in the first five ingredients, with minimal amounts of grain.

First Five Ingredients:

First five ingredients of Bil Jac Large Breed Select Dog Food:

  1. Chicken By-Products (Organs only, Including Chicken Liver)
  2. Chicken
  3. Corn
  4. Chicken By-Product Meal
  5. Dried Beet Pulp

The first ingredient Chicken By-Product is one that I usually tell people to stay away from. In this case the manufacture states what is included. Now Chicken By-Product ingredients turns into a decent ingredient, organs and chicken liver are very nutritious, and a wonderful part of a dogs diet.

Chicken is the second ingredient. This ingredient is inclusive of its water content. Meaning that once the water is removed and the products becomes a dry ingredient it will lose a good portion of its weight, thus making it fall further in the ingredients list.

Corn is the third ingredient. Corn provides your dogs with no nutritional value. Dogs digestive system have a hard time digesting this ingredient. If you feed your dog a corn kernel, you will get a corn kernel out. Corn has also been linked to many case of dog allergies.

Chicken By-Products….. Now they have went and ruined it. They did what we didn’t want them to do. Chicken By-Products are basically low quality parts of the Chicken that are reject for human consumption. We want to avoid this ingredient, unless the manufacture identifies what is included.

Dried Beet Pulp is the fifth ingredient. Some believe that case of Kidney and Lover problems have been traced back to the us of Beet Pulp.

Don’t forget the yeast and molasses that cause yeast infections in ears and diabetes, too!
